Quests[edit]

Bisnensel[edit]

The quest Mistress of the Lake originally involved The Singer instead of Lorelia, and Kynreeve Bakar led the cultists instead of Herald Kixathi.

QUEST: Singer's Lament
  • The Kynreeve finds your quest amusing. The Singer is the true threat, and she's lured you as she did so many others.\n\nNo doubt she feigned innocence about these abductions. She blamed us for forcing her to lure villagers into her cave, didn't she?
  • Did she tell you she sank this temple? Did she tell you twenty worshippers died inside it, drowned by her rage?\n\nI thought not. We cannot reason with the Singer. She came here hoping to kill Kynreeve Bakar herself. We trapped her in the next room.
  • The villagers came willingly to worship my master, Hermaeus Mora. He offers the ultimate pleasure: knowledge of all things.\n\nThe Singer lured them away in a fit of jealousy and rage. If you wish to save your mortal friends, you must kill her.
  • Excellent. The Singer is right through this door, where Kynreeve Bakar locked her in a vain attempt to reason. One cannot reason with madness.\n\nI will let you inside when you are ready. Put her out of her misery, and we will all be better for it.
  • I see you, like the Singer, will not see reason. Very well. Kynreeve Bakar ordered me to let you inside if you refused. He will deal with you personally.\n\nLet me know when you ready to meet the Kynreeve - and your doom.
  • Very well.
  • Centuries ago, Bakar's master, the Daedric Prince Hermaeus Mora, abducted my sisters.\n\nHe locked them away in his realm of Apocrypha for study, claiming they needed to be "catalogued."\n\nHe might as well have murdered them. His crime is unforgivable.
  • I cannot reach Oblivion. My sisters are imprisoned for eternity. We will never sing again, but I made Hermaeus Mora pay.\n\nHis followers built a temple on what was once our island. When he refused to return my sisters, I sank it into the lake.
  • Be silent, fleshling! Perform the task I've assigned you.
  • If I didn't need you to get me out of here, I would flay you alive, right here!
  • Impudent fleshling. This binding will decay on its own in a few years. I merely find the wait tedious.\n\nI have a long memory for ill turns done to me. When I am free, do you wish to have me displeased with you?
  • I'll use small words for your benefit. I'm a lord of Apocrypha. I'm very important and very powerful.\n\n<<1>>, a pathetic mortal sorceress dabbling with magics above her ken, impudently summoned me here. Kill her, and you'll find the answers you seek.
  • She demanded the knowledge and power of Hermaeus Mora. I laughed at her. As if it's mine to give! I should've turned her bones to jelly.\n\nWhen I made to leave, she bound my portal and snared me to this plane.
  • Her little pig-brain is easily distracted by pretty lights and loud noises. Get her attention.\n\nReturn to the main room. Break her lab equipment, or free and kill her experimental subjects. They are mere churls, creatures of no consequence.
  • The spell <<1>> binds me with is powerful, but crude. It's tethered to her soul.\n\nWhen her soul is shucked free of its meaty shell, the spell will be disrupted. There is no other way.
  • A neried siren lives in this cave: The Singer.\n\nShe used to keep mostly to herself, but a week ago, my friends told me they heard her beautiful song.\n\nNow all six of them are trapped in her cave. I'm certain she lured them away. Please, find them!

Discipile Geric^M Disciple Cesamund^M Disciple Dianette^F The Singer Find the Singer Talk to Edouard Talk to Kynreeve Bakar Talk to the Singer in the Temple Side with Kynreeve Bakar Side with the Singer Find Kynreeve Bakar Kill The Singer in the Temple Kill Kynreeve Bakar You say the Singer lies? You captured the Singer? You're right. The Singer is the true threat. The Nereid is playing with more power than she can handle. We thank you for your help. My master does not forget those who serve him, as long as their loyalty is absolute. No doubt Bakar told you many lies. I am glad you saw him for what he was. You're lying. Where is Kynreeve Bakar? Where is Kynreeve Bakar? Tell me more about your master. I'm ready. Open the door. Why did Kynreeve Bakar enslave you? Kynreeve Bakar forces me to lure people to my cave.\n\nThen he forces them to worship his master, Hermaeus Mora. As long as he enslaves me, no one is safe.\n\nBakar waits in a sunken temple to the east. Kill him, and no more innocents will be lured away. Then we must hurry. To create the Water Stone, she'll infuse all those memory essences into something—probably the relics she's stolen. \n\nWe need to find them. I think I know where the nereid's lair is, but I'll need a distraction to get there. Relics from within the ruins. Ancient devices the Ayleids crafted to hold the secrets of water.\n\nUnwittingly, in their efforts to secure their secrets, the Primeval Seekers have unearthed the very things I could not find. We must simply take them. Yes. I serve Hermaeus Mora, the Lord of Fate and Knowledge. These ruins were once a shrine to my lord, a storehouse of secrets forbidden to mortals.\n\nThe shrine is but a memory now, but an entity invades the ruins seeking to steal the secrets. Watcher Tyrant You were able to hear the voice of Hermaeus Mora?\n\nThat's unfair. I worked my whole life for such an honor and I hear nothing. Before you go, mortal. I have something for you. A gift, one might say. We've done it! Victory is ours this day. Knowedge itself wishes to be free. When I spoke to Hermaeus Mora about that, he - it - was quite clear on the point.\n\nAnyway, the former owners of these books can prove nothing. I have found a Dremora warrior deep in the sunken temple of Hermaeus Mora. He has not attacked me. Perhaps he wishes to bargain.

"You seek justice, but you will not find it by killing me.
Kynreeve Bakar enslaves me. He's a powerful Dremora who serves the Daedric Prince Hermaeus Mora.
Mora's clannfear hunt in my caves. Our quarrel is ancient. His crime is unforgivable."

The Singer said Kynreeve Bakar makes his home in a sunken temple east of her cave. She claims that if I kill Bakar, she'll be free of his power. Once free, she's promised not to use her song to lure any more innocents. A servant of Kynreeve Bakar, Kynval Lokal, told me The Singer tricked me. The villagers came willingly to worship Hermaeus Mora. The Singer, in a fit of rage, lured them away. The Singer is the true threat to Bangkorai. She must be stopped. A servant of Kynreeve Bakar, Kynval Lokal, denied the siren's claims that Bakar enslaved her. He claims The Singer lured away willing worshippers of Hermaeus Mora, but his words rang false. Kynreeve Bakar is the true threat. He must be stopped. The Singer is dead. I should leave the room where she was trapped and find Kynreeve Bakar. Kynreeve Bakar is dead. I should leave the room where he was hiding and tell the siren she's free. Though the siren claims she was forced to abduct the villagers, I may find out more about the situation if I question her further. The siren claims Kynreeve Bakar works for Hermaeus Mora. Ages ago, Hermaeus Mora abducted the siren's sisters. In retaliation, the siren sank a temple to Hermaeus Mora to the east of her cave. I found out some interesting information about the nereid and her obsession with an Ayleid artifact. <<1>> will be interested to hear of it. I've agreed to help <<1>> drive away the Devout of the Lake. I need to find the remains of the nereid's victims and use an artifact to speak to them. With luck, I'll find out where the nereid hides and learn how to draw her out. I've rejected the Primeval Seekers' offer to join them. I should go to the waterfall cave where <<1>> said she'd meet me, so I can let her know there will be no peace between the two groups. You did well to stop The Singer. Now those who wish the knowledge of my master can approach him without worry.\n\nIn time, my master will raise this temple to its former glory. His followers will grow, and his knowledge will be given to all. Thank you. Bakar's death did not bring my sisters home, but it does ensure no more will fall under the sway of Hermaeus Mora. I'll retreat to my cave and sing ... alone.\n\nNo more victims will be lured into worshipping this false god. We are very close now. The servants of Hermaeus Mora and their insatiable hunger for hoarding knowledge are all that stand in our way.\n\nYou have already diverted the tides in our favor, and you shall be rewarded. Know this as well—Hermaeus Mora is generous with his servants.\n\nYou will be rewarded greatly if we rid these ruins of that foul creature and her half-witted followers. What? Are you another pawn of Hermaeus Mora come to torment me? Away! I have suffered enough. The Singer claims that she didn't willingly lure villagers into the cave. Instead, she says a Dremora, Kynreeve Bakar, enslaved her and forced her to lure new followers for Bakar's master, Hermaeus Mora. After I killed The Singer, Kynreeve Bakar was waiting for me outside the room where she was trapped. He thanked me for stopping her. Then he promised me that all who wish to worship Hermaeus Mora can do so now without being lured away. After I killed Kynreeve Bakar, I found The Singer waiting for me outside the room where he was hiding. She thanked me for freeing her. She promised no more villagers would be lured under the sway of Hermaeus Mora. Indeed. Our patron is Hermaeus Mora, the scryer of the heavens and he who determines the Tides of Fate. \n\nThese treasures have been sealed away for too long. Hoarding knowledge is worse than hoarding gold. Or so our patron has decreed. A Treatise on Necromantic Emanations, rumored to be penned by Hermaeus Mora himself. Of course, any scholar will scoff if you suggest that.\n\nNevertheless, it is a powerful artifact. As I said, take care when handling it. We must stop this mysterious entity from stealing our lord's forbidden knowledge.\n\nThe entity's wisps absorb mind essences from the Rain Disciples. Kill a wisp and take its essence to the troughs. I hope this will expose the entity's intentions. Yes. Even in the ancient days, some Ayleid recognized the power of Hermaeus Mora. \n\nWithin this shrine, they stored forbidden knowledge of the natural order, which could allow one to manipulate the very fabric of reality on this plane. You're bold to ask. As you observed, I am a Dremora, but the Lord of Knowledge freed me. \n\nHermaeus Mora taught me the secret of how to sever my ties to Oblivion and bind myself to the Mundus instead. I have served him ever since. I serve Hermaeus Mora; dealing with illusions and obscurities is what I do. \n\nExposing these vague quantities, turning confused innuendo into clear knowledge, this is my lord's realm. Of course. We are known as Primeval Seekers. We rarely gather, but our lord has summoned us here to secure the ruins.\n\nI'll warn you now—some sections of the ruins below are restricted—Primeval Seekers will attack if you attempt to trespass. We came here to do just that, but we soon discovered others were living in the ruins—these Rain Disciples. \n\nWe have secured portions of the ruins, but the entity who commands the Rain Disciples set them to block other areas. We know not why.

Lierre

My friends are free. Thank you! Just promise me you'll stop the Singer before she harms anyone else. Lierre asked me to find six other villagers who were lured into the cave by The Singer. I've freed Lierre's missing friends. Now I must find "The Singer" and confront her about what she's done to the villagers. Let Lierre Take Revenge Stop Lierre from Taking Revenge Talk to Doctor Redrent Use the Cure on Charlotte Doctor Redrent's Remains Talk to Lierre Lierre Nirine Charlotte Nirine Doctor Redrent Redrent's Cure I can't take it anymore, Lierre... I want to die.... I managed to talk Lierre out of taking action against <<1>>. I should tell the doctor of his unsatisfied customer. Lierre has asked me to pick up a cure for his wife from <<1>> in Hallowed Refuge. I've picked up the cure from <<1>>. I should administer it to Charlotte as soon as possible. Lierre is consumed by grief. I think he might do something reckless if I don't stop him. Lierre ran off after his wife died. I think he's going to confront the merchant who sold him that false cure. After buying a false cure for his ailing wife, Lierre barely managed to contain his anger. I stopped him from confronting the <<1>> and possibly doing something reckless. In his anger and grief, Lierre has killed the merchant who sold him the false cure. I've come to pick up Lierre's package.

QUEST: Clannfear Claws
  • QUEST: More Clannfear Claws
  • Collect Clannfear Claws
"Don't know when the Daedra got here, but there sure are a lot of them.
More profit for me, I say. You know how much a clannfear claw goes for in Stros M'kai?
You want to get rich? Bring me five clannfear claws, and I'll pay you a finder's fee."
"You've done fine by me so far, and I'm willing to return the favor.
For every five clannfear claws you collect, I'll pay you another finder's fee.
If we work together, we'll both get rich!"
Here are your clannfear claws.
"Here's your finder's fee, just as I promised.
I told you it'd be worth your while."

Kerbol's Mill[edit]

Kerbol's Hollow was originally called Kerbol's Village or Kerbol's Mill.

Adam Serene asked me to help you with tree bark poultices.
"That's Adam, always thinking of others.
I'm sorry I bit him. It was an accident, but he's accepted his life here.
Sadly, I used up all my poultices after the attack. I desperately need more silver bark. I make my cures from its ash and embers."
'
"There's a grove north of here. The silver bark stands out against the brown bark. Peel it off.
Once you have it, burn it in the embers in Kerbol's Village.
Take this lantern, fill it with embers and ashes, and return it to me."
How was your brother cured of plague?
"There is no cure. Don't you see? Werewolves ... werewolves are immune to the disease.
That's the secret of Kerbol's Mill. Everyone here is a werewolf.
They keep to themselves and eat only animals. No humans are harmed. These are good people!"
If there's no cure for the plague here, how was your brother saved?
"These people have kept their secret for years.
They cured my brother out of kindness and said we could stay. We couldn't betray them.
Now the soldiers know. They'll wipe us out. Moric is negotiating, but we don't have a cure to give them."
'
"We can't cure humans, but werewolves are immune to the disease.
That's the secret of Kerbol's Mill. Everyone here is a werewolf.
After they helped Virgil, we went for supplies. Captain Renoit captured us. He's still holding my brother captive!"
'
"The people have kept their secret for years.
They cured my brother out of kindness and said we could stay with them. We couldn't betray them.
Now that the soldiers know, they'll kill us. Moric is negotiating, but we have no cure to give them."
'
"Good. I finished the tonic. Now we need Hircine's blessing.
Only the Daedric Prince can remove his curse. Set the tonic at the shrine on the island northwest of the village. Then wait.
Hircine will test you. If you succeed, we'll have the cure."
Renoit sympathizes, but your secret is out.
He needs proof the werewolves are no longer a threat.
"If Renoit needs proof that he vanquished the werewolves of Kerbol's Mill, we'll give it to him.
We've buried many at the mill. Several were werewolves.
I hate to desecrate their graves, but I believe they would sacrifice to keep all of us safe."
'
"They're all nearby.
Look for the grave of Marent Silain north of Kerbol's Village. Ginie Ronise's grave is by the eastern mountains. We buried Benjamin Charmax southeast, by the waterfall.
Take their skulls to Renoit as proof."

Dialogue[edit]

"That's a noble cause, but stopping the Imperials is now a secondary concern. The power of <<1>> threatens us all. He trapped me in Cold Harbor [sic], Molag Bal's realm.
<<1>> is not the master there."
"Everything you've faced has been a distraction from the master's real plans. Unfortunately, he never shared those plans with me.
You should go directly to Evermore. My wife and my people … they must be warned."
