Walkthrough[edit]

Exterior[edit]

The camp is along the road from Rorikstead to Dragon Bridge just north of River Hjaal, with an overpass bridge controlled by the bandits spanning the road. While the main entrance to the camp is the gate along the road, a covert approach from the southwest will permit you to snipe the guard sentries controlling the trap levers from the bridge.

Seven bandits guard the area: two archers are on the bridge, one bandit guards the western gate, one bandit guards the northern rear entrance, and the remaining three bandits are within the camp's wooden palisade. The Bandit Chief is inside the house. Three bear traps are at the western entrance, while three falling boulder traps along the road are triggered by levers (one on the west side of the bridge and two on the east) at the lookout towers above.

The Bandit Chief carries a key that unlocks two chests in Robbers' Cove. Inside the house is a copy of the Archery skill book The Black Arrow, v2 on the table, another key, leveled loot, and a bedroll in the eastern room.

Robbers' Cove[edit]

There are no enemies in this area. The Bandit Leader's Journal is on the table. The treasure chest to the left is expert-locked but can be unlocked with the key found outside; it will be open and empty if you are not on a related quest. To the right, a skeletal hand can be seen floating on the surface of the water. Below it lies the rest of the skeleton and a coin purse. In the northeastern corner of the cove, an adept-locked chest sits underwater next to armor and weapons. Six blisterwort, five imp stool, five Namira's rot, and one white cap can be found in the cove.

The journal recounts the chief bandit's mutinous strife with his crew and his plans to stash away gold, indicating he eventually accrued enough to run away before being murdered by his own crew. The journal notes he hid his stash by a tree stump on the island to the south. Exit the cove and head directly south toward the waterfall, where the chest is on the south side of the tree stump. The chest is master-locked but can be unlocked with the key.

Notes[edit]

  • The bandits may stop you and demand that you pay a toll of 100 gold.
  • To leave the water without exiting the cove, swim up against the boat and jump. This will get you onto the low rocks beside the dock. The only other way out of the water takes you out of the cove, so it is advisable to leave submerged loot until the rest of the loot in the cove has been collected if you have trouble with the boat trick.

Bugs[edit]

  • The cove's interior cell has the apostrophe after the "s" (Robbers' Cove), whereas the map name, related bandit faction, and the location's key use "Robber's".
    • PC Only The Unofficial Skyrim Patch, version 1.3.2, addresses this issue. The interior cell has been renamed to Robber's Cove.
