Captain Kaleen

Captain Kaleen is a Redguard captain of The Spearhead. After the Daggerfall Covenant was formed, she insisted upon no longer looting Breton ships, and her crew mutinied against her, leaving her with only a few loyal sailors afterward. She will ask for aid in several quests, including recruiting additional crew members, and can initially be found in Port Hunding. She reveres King Fahara'jad and supports the Daggerfall Covenant at all cost. This leads her to have a skewed morality and makes others dislike her. Even her own mentor thinks she has lost her way at the end of Carzog's Demise.

The Broken Spearhead[edit]

As you approach her location on the docks, you'll hear her and Lambur arguing:

Lambur: "I'm sick of this island, Kaleen. I should be in Betnikh, visiting my people."
Captain Kaleen: "Think, Lambur. How will we get there without a crew?"

Speak to her and she'll say:

"Look at that, Lambur! Our half-drowned friend is up and about. We weren't sure you'd make it."
You saved me?
"Really, I just fished you out of the water. Master Kasan got you breathing again. The important thing is you're alive.
But if you're feeling grateful … I could use some help."
Help with what?
"A job. Anyone who helps is going to get rich. Right now I need a fresh face, someone this island's butcher-in-charge, Headman Bhosek, doesn't know and won't stop.
Basically, you recruit the folks I need, you get a cut of the take. Interested?/So, what do you say?"
All right. I'll help you./Who am I after?
"The three folks I need are Crafty Lerisa, Jakarn, and Neramo. Any or all of them would do."
Tell me about Jakarn.
"He's a thief, but he's the best there is. He'd be a big help in the heist I have planned.
Problem is, he robbed Bhosek. Nobody robs Bhosek. He's been tossed into the Grave, under Bhosek's palace."
I'll look for Jakarn. How do I get to him?
"There's an entrance off the river, under the palace. Watch out for traps and the other prisoners. They're all murderers down there, the worst scum on the island.
That's the Grave. You can leave any time you want, if you can get out alive."
"Look for the entrance to Bloody Bersek's dungeon beneath the palace. And watch your step."
I'd like to hear more about Neramo.
"Neramo's nice enough for an Altmer, if you can get past his Dwemer fixation.
Thing is, the relics he finds in Dwemer ruins sometimes come in very handy. He just might have a device that we can use for our heist."
I'll look for Neramo. Where do I find him?
"There's a Dwemer ruin outside town—Bthzark. Neramo went there to dig up relics. Help him find some and he might join us."
Who's Crafty Lerisa?
"She's an old friend, captain of the Maiden's Breath. She's also a master of disguise. We can use that.
The Sea Drakes used their lighthouse tricks to run her ship aground near Saintsport. Rescue her, and she might join us."
I'll look for Lerisa. How do I find her?
"You won't spot her. She stays well hidden. Your best bet is to look for her monkey, Howler. They're never far apart.
Find that monkey, and you'll find Lerisa."
No thanks.
"Don't blame you for being cautious. Just think it over. You change your mind or want a chance to get off this wretched island, you know where to find me."
Who runs Stros M'Kai?
"Bloody Bhosek, or Headman Bhosek, as he calls himself now. He took over the palace years ago. Killed the old ruler and took his place."
Doesn't anyone stand up to him?
"Captain Helane, but she's worse than Bhosek. Her Sea Drakes run Saintsport south of here. Biggest band of murderers on the seas.
Bhosek and Helane tolerate each other. Neither's ready for a war, yet."
Where can I get a drink around here?
"The Screaming Mermaid's just up the road, and they've always got good rum. Just keep a grip on your coinpurse, or you'll be a beggar by day's end."
Anyone I should watch out for?
"Bhosek's thugs, the Bloody Fists. Cross one, you cross them all, and Bhosek will have your head on a pike faster than you can say, "Please don't put my head on a pike!"
Also, the Sea Drakes will gut you if you enter Saintsport."
Where's the rest of your crew?
"Deserted, the traitors. See, there's a fortune to be made from Breton galleons. Thing is, King Fahara'jad called for an end to it, now that we're all part of the Daggerfall Covenant.
Of course, as a loyal Redguard, I obeyed."
Who is King Fahara'jad?
"Ruler of the Redguard people, now king among equals in the Daggerfall Covenant.
King Fahara'jad would have us raid the ships of our enemies, not our allies. There is wisdom in that."
And your crew disagreed?/Did your crew disagree?
"If by "disagreed" you mean "tried to kill us" then yes. Bunch of bloody mutineers.
Lambur, myself, and a few others ran them off the ship, but word spread. No one here wants to sail with a captain who won't raid Bretons."

If you approach her without just having woken up aboard of her ship, the conversation starts off slightly differently:

"Look what the sea spat out, Lambur. Might be just what we need. You interested in some easy money?"
Could be.
"I have a heist planned, a big one. Anyone who helps is going to be rich.
But I need people who aren't local, who aren't in the pocket of Headman Bhosek. Still interested?"
What would I have to do?
"This work requires some special talents. You help me recruit the folks I need, you get a cut of the take."
I'm in.
"So, what do you say?"
Who am I after?

From here on onwards, the conversation continues as detailed above.

You may also meet her in the Screaming Mermaid if you rescued one of her crew first. If so, you can ask her about the job and name-drop your new friend:

"And what might you want?"
I need a job. I hear you've got one.
"You're not with Bhosek, are you? No. You don't look dumb enough.
So tell me this: if I was planning something, why would I need you?"
Captain Lerisa owes me a favor.
"Crafty Lerisa, eh? I won't lie, she'd be a big help getting what I want to steal.
You get me Lerisa, and I'll cut you both in on the take. Deal?"
What if I can bring Neramo along?
"He's an odd one, but I might have use of his particular skills. He could be just the thing for a heist I have planned.
Get me Neramo, and I'll cut you both in on out take. Deal?"
Jakarn owes me. He could owe you.
"He's a charmer, that one. Damn good thief too, and I need one of those right now.
Get me Jakarn, and I'll cut you both in on our take. Deal?"
Deal.
"You're in. I've got some preparations to make, and then we're as good as gone."

After you agree to help, she'll direct you to her hideout to hear the rest:

"I'm looking forward to getting back on the open seas."
So, what now?
"Not here. Too many of Bhosek's ears around. I sent Lambur to scout a nice quiet spot to gather our crew. Look for her at our hideout near the docks.
I'll slip out and meet you there."
I'll be there when I'm ready to go.

Tip of the Spearhead[edit]

Before you've found everyone, she'll ask if you're ready:

"Thanks to you, we've actually got a chance to pull this off."
I'm ready. Let's do the heist.
"After we hit Bhosek's palace, we're done here. Are you sure you're ready to leave?"
Who's left to recruit?
"If we're going to do it right, we'll need Jakarn, Neramo, and Crafty Lerisa."

You can ask about the missing recruits with the dialogue options above.

Once you've gathered Lerisa, Jakarn, and/or Neramo, you'll find Kaleen upstairs in her hideout:

"We've got a crew to rival the legends! Time to make some money, don't you agree?"
I agree. What now?
"Now we're ready for the real challenge—the heist.
The target's Bhosek. That slimy bastard's finally gonna get what's coming to him. We're going to steal his sailing logs."
His sailing logs? Really?
"His sailing logs are the key to our fortune, friend. They're the records of every ship that's docked here, every stolen cargo they've unloaded, and every illicit payment made to Bhosek."
How does that make us rich?
"Those records are worth a fortune to King Fahara'jad. They're written proof that Bhosek has violated the king's order to stop raiding Breton shipping. With those papers in hand, the king can threaten to destroy Bhosek if he doesn't stop."
The king's agreed to pay you for them?
"Absolutely. His envoy is on the dock now, waiting. As soon as we turn over the sailing logs, he gives us a fortune in gold.
The trick will be getting into Bhosek's palace, stealing the logs, and getting out with them. That's your job."
How do I do it?
"First you need a servant's disguise to get into the palace.
The papers are in a lockbox on the top floor. Bhosek has the only key. Slip this powder into his drink, then grab the key."
And then?
"The lockbox is always guarded. The guard's not bright, but he'll raise the alarm if anyone tries to open the box. Deal with him quietly—no stabbing.
Lambur and I will have the ship ready to sail when you return with the papers."
I'll be back soon.
"We'll have the Spearhead ready to sail for Betnikh the moment you return with Bhosek's records."

After collecting the sailing logs you'll find Kaleen at the docks with Tharwab:

"My friend! Welcome back. Do you have some good news?"
Here's the shipping logs, captain.

Kaleen will accept them from you then turn to the King's representative:

Captain Kaleen : "Here you are, Tharwab—the shipping logs that show Bhosek's defiance of the king's decrees."

Kaleen will start towards the ship:

Captain Kaleen : "Come on. It's time to go."

Once on board, Kaleen will call to her crew:

Captain Kaleen : "On your feet! Man your stations! Prepare to sail!"

Speak to her and she'll say:

"Before we leave for Betnikh, talk to the crew. Get familiar with them. It'll be a long trip."
I'm ready to leave now. Let's sail.
"Then we leave for Betnikh, an Orc island that hasn't yet joined the Covenant. I hope to change that.
Lambur's happy to go home. She may try to thank you with ale. My advice? Make it to six mugs. You'll have a friend for life."
All right, I'll get to know the crew.
"If there's one thing Master Kasan taught me, it's that knowing your ship and crew keeps you alive.
Seems like you'd make a fine captain, some day. But you'll have to find your own ship!"

Once you tell her you're ready to leave for Betnikh, you'll suddenly arrive:

"When my crew turned traitor, I never thought I'd see Betnikh again. Feels good."
What now?
"Head into town and get a drink! This is home and we'll be here for a while.
Here's your cut of the take from the heist."

The Bloodthorn Plot[edit]

"Careful here. These Orcs aren't yet part of the Covenant, but I'm working on that.
Feel free to check out Stonetooth Fortress. Maybe you'll meet a nice Orc."
Why should they join the Covenant?
"They aren't fools. Proud as the Seamount clan are, they can't deny the Covenant's strength in numbers.
And they'll make a mountain of coin selling weapons to our alliance."

Carzog's Demise[edit]

Before speaking to the Ayleid Spirits and unlocking the ruin, you'll find the captain waiting outside the door:

"Get this door open, and we'll fight our way to the relic!"

Once you've convinced the spirits to let you in, the forces on the door will disappear:

Captain Kaleen: "It's opening! Get ready everyone!"
Master Kasan: "Best move quietly. The enemy is within."
Captain Kaleen: "Let's move!"
Master Kasan: "We're right behind you, captain!"

Inside the Inner Sanctuary you'll find the captain among her crew. Speak to her and she'll say:

"These cultists weren't much trouble. There was a portal open when we got here, but it closed when we attacked. Azlakha would know more."

She'll also give random orders to the crew:

Captain Kaleen: "Kill anyone who tries to get through!"
Captain Kaleen: "Keep your eyes open!"
Captain Kaleen: "You spot cultists, kill them!"
Captain Kaleen: "We have to hold here until the relic is ours!"

Occasionally she'll speak to Neramo about what's next:

Captain Kaleen: "What's the plan?"
Neramo: "Vardan is in the spirit realm, beyond the portal. He has the relic, and we must get it!"
Captain Kaleen: "We'll hold here, as long as it takes."

Once you've defeated Vardan, you'll return to the mortal realm to witness a schism among the crew:

Lambur: "Strange that such a small thing can cause such terror. It must be destroyed!"
Captain Kaleen: "Hold on. Let's think about this."
Lambur: "What's to think about? It killed hundreds of Orcs!"
Captain Kaleen: "The cultists did that. In the right hands, this could defend the Covenant against invaders."
Lambur: "I'm not giving that thing to the people who leveled Orsinium!"

Speak to Kaleen and she'll say:

"The relic, ours at last! For the Covenant!"
So you're sure we should keep it?
"Yes. Keep it and use it! A discovery like this could tip the war in our favor. Think of all the lives we could save!"
How would it save lives?
"With this relic, our enemies would not dare invade the Covenant. No more Pact raids out of Skyrim. No Dominion fleets in our waters!
Think of the whole ocean here, not just the waves. It's what we must do to protect our people. All our people."
I have to think about this.
"If you choose to destroy the relic, then you've turned your back on me and the Covenant."

If you decide to keep the relic, she'll only say:

"Excellent! I can't wait to present this to King Fahara'jad. I'm sure he'll put it to good use!"

If you decide do destroy the relic:

"You've betrayed me and the Covenant with your actions. I can't stand to be in your company anymore. You'll leave here without me."
"I told you I never wanted to see your face again!"

On to Glenumbra[edit]

You must consult with Captain Kaleen aboard her ship for passage to Glenumbra.

Speaking to her on the boat while not on the quest if you sided against her:

"I told you I never wanted to see your face again!"

Speaking to her on the boat while not on the quest if you sided with her:

"Some weren't happy with your decision to keep the relic, but I whole-heartedly support you."

If you sided against her in the previous quest, she greets you with:

"I swore never to sail with you again. But Chief Tazgol has asked me to sail you to Glenumbra, which I will do."
Chief Tazgol is ready to join the Daggerfall Covenant. He asked you to take me to Daggerfall.
"Only out of respect for the chief and for the good of the alliance, not for you. Are you ready to go?"

Upon arrival, the captain will announce that you've landed.

Captain Kaleen: "We've arrived. Welcome to Daggerfall."

If spoken to again, she will brush you off.

"We're here, in Daggerfall. Now get off my boat."

If you sided with her in the previous quest, she instead greets you with:

"I commend you again on choosing to keep the relic for the Covenant. But Chief Tazgol tells me we must hasten to Glenumbra."
He's ready to join the Daggerfall Covenant. I have his official petition.
"The Spearhead is set to sail. Are you ready?"
Not yet.
<Ends dialogue>
Yes, let's go.
<Travel to Glenumbra>
Captain Kaleen: "We've arrived. Welcome to Daggerfall."

If spoken to again, she will appreciatively remark:

"I know that many aren't happy you kept the relic, but you made the right decision. If you're ever in trouble, you can call on my blade. I hope we get the chance to sail together again, my friend."

Children of Yokuda[edit]

You'll find an injured Kaleen in a dungeon beneath Shornhelm while searching for a spy called Naruk:

"Help me walk out of here, and then we'll deal with Naruk."
What happened, Kaleen?
"Naruk saw through me. I'm not … cut out for spycraft. He had questions, and figured torture would loosen my tongue.

He doesn't know me very well."

What's Naruk planning?
"He didn't tell me … but I saw barrels of poison and a sewer map. He's going to poison the water below Shornhelm."
Wasn't Naruk a Covenant spy? Why would he do that?
"He wants to start a war, force King Fahara'jad to conquer the Bretons and Orcs. In his twisted way, he's doing what he feels is right for Alik'r.
Let's kill him, shall we?"
Let me help you up.

Free her from her bonds and she'll say:

"I think I'm ready to swing a sword again."

Just then, Nicolene enters:

Nicolene: "Captain! What happened?"
Captain Kaleen: "Easy, Nicolene. I'm fine."
Nicolene: "You're not fine! Who did this to you? I'll kill them!"
Captain Kaleen: "Get me a healing potion, and we'll kill them together."
Nicolene: "Fine. Drink this. Now."
Captain Kaleen: "Oh. Much better."

Speak to the captain and she'll say:

"Ah, that's better!"
Where can I find Naruk?
"The sewers beyond the Fighters Guild. I saw it on his map. Follow me. There's no time to waste."
No. Mark his location on my map and go deal with the poison.
Captain Kaleen: "Naruk can't be far! Go after him! We'll stop the poison!"

Follow the captain's orders and head to the Abandoned Cistern behind Moorside Mounts. Enter and Kaleen, Nicolene, and a Spearhead Marine will follow:

Captain Kaleen: "Lock the cistern gates! We'll keep them off the winch!"
Captain Kaleen: "Watch your back, Nicolene!"
Nicolene: "I am! I'm also watching yours!"
Captain Kaleen: "Don't get cocky!"
Nicolene: "Well, don't get dead!"
Spearhead Marine: "This isn't going to be remotely fun."

Complete the mission and she'll tell the group:

Captain Kaleen: "After we murder these sons of dogs, drinks are on me!"

Join the crew at the Dead Wolf Inn:

"I knew you'd be back. I also know Naruk is dead. Thank you. Yet again, you've stopped a threat to the city and the Covenant."
So it's over?
"Without Naruk, the Children of Yokuda will crumble. No one can say King Fahara'jad did not deal them justice. The Daggerfall Covenant is safe, and so am I, thanks to you.
Now have a drink with us and celebrate our victory."

Speak to her before leaving and she'll say:

"Nicolene and I will be headed back to Sentinel soon enough. Until then, you should stay and have a drink with us."

Ascending Tide[edit]

Appears only with Ascending Tide

An Order Gone Awry[edit]

Enter Tide Hollow of the Coral Aerie and the Redguard Captain will be speaking to herself before spotting you:

Captain Kaleen: "Ascendant Order on one side, yaghra on the other."
Captain Kaleen: "Jakarn, what have you gotten yourself into this time."
<Captain Kaleen stands up.>
Captain Kaleen: "Don't think you can get the drop on me, whoever you are."

Speak with Captain Kaleen to find out what is happening and begin the quest.

First time meeting:
Met Kaleen before:
"I'm guessing, since you're sailing up to this secluded cove in that little dinghy instead of the main entrance, you aren't part of the Ascendant Order.
I won't ask your business here, but helping me with mine could turn you a tidy profit."
What is it you need?
"Your timing is impeccable as ever. Did the Covenant send you? I could use some help with the mess Jakarn has left me this time."
What is it you need?
"An old associate of mine has gotten himself into a heap of trouble. Bad habit of his, but this time it looks like more than I can handle.
I need to retrieve the items he was carrying—and rescue the fool if lady luck still has a shine on him."
What are you trying to retrieve?
"Some kind of diplomatic correspondence. A letter and a medallion. All I know is I'm being well paid to risk my neck for it, and you will be too. If you don't mind crossing these Ascendant Order troublemakers.
So, you in?"
All right, I'll help with your rescue and recovery mission.

After you agree to help, you can ask questions about the situation:

"I did some scouting around the cove. It looks like this is the only entrance to the Ascendant Order's hideout that isn't secure. Unfortunately, the reason for that is a lot of angry yaghra trying to claw their way in. We'll have to push through."
What do you know about the Ascendant Order?
"Besides the pompous name? Not much. Before this job I had never heard of them. They claim to be influential people from each alliance who oppose the Three Banners War, but membership is anonymous.
This is the first I've heard of them taking action."
What do you mean?
"Aside from releasing some strongly worded condemnations, the order hasn't really done anything. Does intercepting Jakarn signal them switching from talk to action, or is this just the first we noticed?
They might be setting this place up as a base."
Is there anything of interest here?
"Just some old ruins, so far as I can tell. Not the worst place for a secluded hideout, if it weren't crawling with yaghra. Too far from any shipping lanes for pirates to bother with though.
Whatever they're after, it's not plunder."
Yaghra could mean the Abyssal Cabal is involved. (If you completed the Summerset questline)
"Ascendant Order. Abyssal Cabal. Maybe we can toss an Average Assembly in for good measure!
Look, I don't know what that means and I don't think I want to. All that matters is Jakarn and what he was supposed to deliver."
What are yaghra?
"Nasty breed of deep-sea crustacean. They make dreugh seem like purring kittens. It's rare to find them on land, so it's just our luck that there's a whole brood foaming at the jaws to get into that ruin … but I suppose they're doing us a favor."
Tell me more about your mission.
"There's not much more to tell than I already explained. I was hired to recover Jakarn and what he was carrying after he never arrived at his destination. I tracked him and his captors here. Now we're going to finish the job so I can get paid."
Never met Jakarn:
Met Jakarn before:
Who's Jakarn?
"A rake. A rogue. A fool. I don't know how he got into this mess, but I can assure you a pretty face is involved. If he weren't so good at gaining the confidence of wealthy people, I'd have marooned him on some rock long ago.
Hope he's not dead."
At least you're being paid to rescue Jakarn this time.
"Hah! I could make a career of it, if I thought I had the patience. I'm still not sure how Jakarn got entangled with this whole affair, but you can be sure a pretty face is involved.
Let's just hope the poor fool is still alive."
First time meeting:
Met Kaleen before:
Who are you?
"Kaleen. Captain Kaleen. Freebooter most days, privateer for the Daggerfall Covenant for the rest.
And no, this isn't a mission for the Covenant, though it does seem to be related to the Alliance War."
Where's your crew, captain?
"Back on my ship, preparing to make a quick escape once I have what I came for. Wouldn't do me much good if I brought the lot of them. They make better sailors than sneaks or soldiers. Hope you're more suited to this sort of caper."
What have you been up to since we last crossed paths?
"Turning trouble into a profit and aiding the Daggerfall Covenant as best I can, as usual. And pulling that idiot Jakarn's arse out of the fire more often than I'd like. I'd leave him to roast, but that sweet talk of his does drum up good leads."

After moving through the Brackish Cove, you will reach the Tide Hollow which contains the first boss, Maligalig. Once they are defeated, Kaleen will appear through the opposite door:

Captain Kaleen: "Sep's scaly hide! That might be the ugliest thing I've ever laid eyes on. Glad it didn't make a meal of you."
Captain Kaleen: "There's still a lot of yaghra ahead, but their attention is on the order. Now's our chance to slip through."
Captain Kaleen: "You seem comfortable with the direct approach. I'll keep scouting for signs of Jakarn."

Before you continue into the ruins, you can speak with Kaleen:

"It's a real mess beyond that door. Looks like the yaghra and the order have been butchering each other for days. Make good use of that chaos unless you want to wind up another floater in the cove."
How'd you get ahead of me?
"I managed to squeeze through some cracks in the reef while you had the yaghra's attention. Nearly drowned twice, but I found a way under the perimeter. Good thing too. That door was barred from the other side."
Do you know where to find Jakarn?
"I doubt the Ascendant Order would be keeping a prisoner close to the fighting. He'll be deeper in the ruins. Not sure where, but with any luck I can sniff him out. Jakarn wears his cologne like he bathes in it."

Within the ruins you will find Jakarn being interrogated by Sarydil and Varallion. When they leave you and Captain Kaleen can head down to free Jakarn:

Jakarn: "Hah! You thought I'd crack that soon? I'm Jakarn! The Jak—Kaleen?"
Captain Kaleen: "Keep your voice down!"
<S'zarzo the Bulwark enters the room.>
S'zarzo the Bulwark: "Enough squeaking, little rat—oh ho! A few more pests to play with."
Jakarn: "That was absolutely not my fault."
Captain Kaleen: "I'll unbind Jakarn, you deal with the guard!"

Once S'zarzo the Bulwark is dead, Kaleen will manage to free Jakarn:

Captain Kaleen: "Ha! Got it!"
Jakarn: "Whew, that was rougher than a night at the Ebony Flask, and much less fun."
Captain Kaleen: "Grab your delivery—and a shirt—and let's get out of here."
Jakarn: "Would if I could, love. Varallion took the letter and medallion when I was captured … and I don't know where my shirt is."
Captain Kaleen: "Do you have any idea where they were taken?"
Jakarn: "Either with him or his right hand, Sarydil, I wager."
<Kaleen turns to you.>
Captain Kaleen: "See if you can track down those two. I'll babysit Jakarn, for now, he's in no condition to fight."

Before you leave, you can speak with Kaleen:

"I figured we wouldn't find everything all together, but I dared to hope. We should find Varallion and Sarydil and take back what they stole, but be careful. I recognize the name Varallion and it brings nothing good to mind."
Will Jakarn be all right?
"I've seen the tide wash him up in worse shape. He'll be fine. I just wouldn't count on him to pull his weight. Not that he could to begin with."
What do you know about Varallion?
"That name belongs to an Elf who ran a fleet of ships for the Veiled Heritance. Heard all sorts of tall tales about how he terrorized the Aldmeri shipping lanes. Some claimed he used gryphons to swoop down and shred the sails of his victims."
You believe that?
It's no lie that the High Elves train gryphons for war, though I've never seen one attack a ship at sea. If this is the same Varallion, we'd be wise to keep an eye to the skies."

Eventually you will come across Sarydil, once she is killed Captain Kaleen will come racing in after Jakarn:

Captain Kaleen: "Jakarn, wait—"
Jakarn: "See, Kaleen, they already dealt with Sarydil! I owed her a lump or two."
<Jakarn then walks over to a scroll sitting on one of the shelves along the wall.>
Jakarn: "Ah hah! She had the letter. No sign of the medallion though."
Jakarn: "Varallion must have kept it on him. Come on!"
Captain Kaleen: "If you run off again, so help me I'll break your knees!"
Jakarn: "Since when are you so concerned about my well-being? Have you finally gone sweet on me, Kaleen?"
Captain Kaleen: "I'm sweet on the gold I'm owed for bringing you back alive. You can get killed on your own time."

You can speak with both of them before heading on:

"Good work with Sarydil. If you'd taken much longer, this idiot probably would have gotten himself skewered trying to play hero.
Start searching for Varallion. I'll keep Jakarn on a short leash."

Continuing after Varallion, you travel through the Gryphon's Aerie and Kaleen and Jakarn will follow after you. In one of the rooms there will be a stack of papers and books and Kaleen will start going through it. Bringing to light why the Ascendant Order is here:

Captain Kaleen: "Hold up. These aren't some old soggy papers. These belong to the Ascendant Order."
<She kneels down and starts going through the papers.>
Captain Kaleen: "Looks like plans. Varallion's trying to turn this into a gryphon hatchery for the order."
Jakarn: "And here I thought they setup this whole hideout just for me."
Captain Kaleen: "Still not big enough to contain your ego."
Jakarn: "It must at least mention me? Let me look!"
<Jakarn notices a bag and goes over to it.>
Jakarn: "Hey! My gear!"
<Jakarn gets dressed.>
Jakarn: "Much better. Was feeling a bit clammy in all this damp."

You can speak with Kaleen to get more details about the plan:

"This cinches it. This Varallion is the same one who was working for the Veiled Heritance. Guess he found himself a new outfit.
No sign of the medallion, but these papers are probably worth something to the right buyer."
Anything useful in those documents?
"Gryphon pedigrees, promissory notes, coded communications. Nothing relating to Jakarn's business. Our employer might have some idea how to make use of this information. So long as they're willing to pay for it."

Through the door you will eventually reach the Cove Lagoon where Varallion is waiting:

Jakarn: "Varallion! I believe you have something of mine."
Varallion: "You are prideful for an errand boy. Come and take it."
<Jakarn begins to run up to him but stumbles in pain.>
Jakarn: "Oh, bet your arse I w—ow, ow, ow!"
Captain Kaleen: "Reopened your wounds, didn't you?"
<Kaleen crouches next to Jakarn.>
Captain Kaleen: "Would you take care of Varallion while I mummify this idiot? Thanks."

Once Varallion is dead, Captain Kaleen and Jakarn will begin to talk as they go through Varallion's belongings:

Captain Kaleen: "For all this trouble, that medallion better be here."
Jakarn: "This bag looks promising."
<Jakarn takes the medallion from it.>
Jakarn: "What did I tell you?"
Jakarn: "We can pretend this little detour never happened."
Captain Kaleen: "It's going to take a lot of bribery for me to forget this, Jakarn."

You can then speak with Captain Kaleen to complete the quest, she is happy that you have managed to find everything:

"Well, that's Jakarn, the letter, and the medallion all in hand. I'll admit, I thought getting out of here with all three was a long shot. Probably would have been, if you hadn't shown up when you did.
I wish more of my crew pulled weight like you."
And wiped out the Ascendant Order while we were at it.
"This operation of theirs, anyway. Those documents I took suggest the Ascendant Order is a lot bigger than this group of buccaneers, but that's not our problem.
Here's your cut of the job, plus a little thank you from me."

With Jakarn rescued and the mission done, you can listen to them continue their conversation:

Captain Kaleen: "I'm sure our friend here would agree."
Jakarn: "I think I can convince my enchanting lady-friend to provide an appropriate bonus, if we regale her with the tale of our heroics. Particularly my heroics."
Captain Kaleen: "I'll say you were the second-incarnation of Pelinal Whitestrake if it fills my pockets."

Speaking with Captain Kaleen again before leaving:

"You're welcome to take your leave. Getting Jakarn back to my ship and on to his destination shouldn't be a problem after the beatings you gave to the order and those yaghra.
I'd offer you a ride, but I'm chartered to get him delivered straight away."
Were you hired by the same woman Jakarn is working for?
"That's right. She came to me after she got word that the Jakarn's ship was attacked. She thought I could be trusted, since I have history with Jakarn. That much is true, even if she's otherwise a poor judge of character."
How does it feel to be working with Jakarn again?
"Exhausting. Jakarn's a handful at the best of times, but he's still trustworthy enough. In this cutthroat business, that makes him worth the trouble he causes. Most of the time.
Still, I'll be glad to have him out of my hair for a while after this."

High Isle[edit]

Appears only with High Isle

Of Knights and Knaves[edit]

Captain Kaleen will be one of the captives and will need to be rescued in Abhain Chapel's South Crypts:

Captain Kaleen: "Lady Arabelle"
Lady Arabelle Davaux: "Kaleen, Za'ji, Tsuzo! Thank the Divines you're all right! But where are the delegates?"
Captain Tsuzo: "Apologies, m'lady. We lost our charges."
Captain Za'ji: "Za'ji is not all right …."
Jakarn: "Not to spoil the reunion, but we're about to get company."
Lady Arabelle Davaux: "Jakarn, free the captains. Friend, keep the Ascendant Order at bay! Buy us some time!"

Jakarn will eventually break the lock and she will be free:

Jakarn: "Stupid thing won't—wait, got it!"
Lady Arabelle Davaux: "Collect Valessea and get the captains to safety, Jakarn. We'll find Quentyn."
Captain Kaleen: "The knights took Quentyn away not long ago. I think they're questioning him now."
Lady Arabelle Davaux: "Then we must hurry. Come, my friend."

In Mandrake Manor, she will be inside recovering, you will need to speak to her to hear her story of what transpired. If you haven't met her before:

"I honestly didn't think we'd ever leave that cell alive. I owe you a debt of gratitude, friend. We all do.
And I owe the dockmaster of Gonfalon Bay payment of a different kind. I visit High Isle often and I considered Arnauld a friend. Bah!"

If you have met her before from completing the Daggerfall Covenant questline:

"Funny. First time we met, you were the one fished out of the water. Now look at us.
I owe you a great debt. And I owe Dockmaster Arnauld a debt of a different kind. I visit High Isle often and I considered Arnauld a friend. Bah!"
Can you tell me what happened out at sea and how you wound up in the crypts?
"An armored mage and a gang of ruffians were waiting at the Shallows. They clubbed down all who made it ashore.
Dockmaster Arnauld showed up and I thought we were saved. But the mage—a Breton noble, by his voice—paid him to walk away and leave!"
Back up. What happened before you washed ashore?
"We were nearing landfall when a huge storm swept out of nowhere. I looked for the light at Gonfalon Head, but the lighthouse was dark. We were blown off course, crashed upon some rocks.
I lost sight of High King Emeric, but somehow made it to shore."
Do you know where High King Emeric and the other leaders are now?
"I'm not sure. I didn't see any of the royals when I waded ashore, and I was the last one from my ship to make it to the beach. The tide turned as I swam in—no one was washed up after me.
I'm afraid you won't find the high king at the Shallows."

If spoken to again:

"I'll do whatever I can to help you and Lady Arabelle recover High King Emeric and the others. Especially if it involves beating Dockmaster Arnauld senseless while he's floundering ashore, half-drowned in the surf."

After the quest, she vows to take revenge on the Ascendant Order and find High King Emeric once she fully recovers:

"As soon as I'm back in fighting form, I plan to make those Ascendant Order bastards sorry for what they did to us. And I'll help you find High King Emeric. He's too tough to die in a storm.
Until then, I'm glad Lady Arabelle has you at her side."

Deadly Investigations[edit]

Kaleen will be at one of the sites that needs to be investigated for Ascendant Order activity. She will be at the entrance of the Tarnished Grotto.

Captain Kaleen: "Looks like this is the place. I'll back you up."

Speaking to her before you go in:

"Hey there, fish. We make it to the spot and what do you know?
There's some kind of cave here, just like the map suggested."
Have you checked out the cave yet, captain?
"By myself? No, I was waiting for you.
I wouldn't have even noticed the entrance if I wasn't looking for it. Probably why the Ascendant Order chose it. That's the thing about islands and ships—you can always find the rats."
I'll go inside and see what's in there.
"Not alone you won't. For all we know, the whole damned Order is meeting inside!
With any luck, I'll get a chance to pound the bastards that wrecked the Spearhead. Let's go."
All right, captain.

Speaking to her again:

"Let's see what's waiting for us inside. Don't worry. I'll watch your back."

Once inside, if you speak to her:

"Let's keep going. A moving vessel makes a harder target."

During combat:

"Don't let them get behind you!"
"Make them pay for my crew!"
"Knock their teeth!"

When you read the Transport Plans:

Captain Kaleen: "They knew everything. Who we were carrying, where we were going. But how?"

Reading up on the Orders for the Recruits, which the document is surrounded by dead Alliance soldiers, Kaleen will comment on recognizing one of her crew members as the deceased and that the lodestones were the cause of the storm:

Captain Kaleen: "I recognize that one! He was aboard my ship! These lodestones must be how they targeted us with the storm."

You will speak to her about the summary of the findings:

"Lady Arabelle was right, damn it. We do have a rat in our company. Now I owe her a bottle of Tamika's Dark Rum.
Someone gave our plans to the Ascendant Order, and they somehow used lodestones to track us and target us with that storm."
How many people knew about the plans to transport the alliance leaders to High Isle?
"Not a lot. Lady Arabelle, Lord Bacaro and some of his top aides, the three captains. Duchess Elea and a few nobles. And anyone the alliance leaders shared it with.
If there's one thing I learned about the royal courts, they leak like a sinking ship."
Were you and the other captains in contact?
"We met briefly early on. Then we each sailed different, indirect routes to get here. I didn't rendezvous with the other ships until we were almost at the archipelago.
Anyway, I guess this shows us how the Ascendant Order rewards its agents."
What do you mean?
"Look around. These traitors survived the storm and the shipwrecks and returned here, just like they were told to. And what did they get for their trouble? A blade to the heart for each of them.
Come on. Let's get out of here and tell Lady Arabelle."
I'll get this information to Lady Arabelle as soon as I can.

If you still have other sites to see:

"You go on ahead. You have other locations to investigate.
I'm going to report this to the guard, for whatever good that might do. And someone should bury these recruits. Not even traitors deserve to rot in a cave."

If she's the last person to see during the investigation:

"You go on ahead. I'm sure Lady Arabelle is eager for your report.
I'm going let the guard know what we found in here, for whatever good that might do. And someone should bury these recruits. Not even traitors deserve to rot in a cave."

Escape from Amenos[edit]

After rescuing the royal delegation, she will be back in Mandrake Manor. Speaking to her before you go see Lady Arabelle:

"Not many people escape from the jungle of Amenos. I'm impressed, wayfarer! I only wish Za'ji wasn't the one to pluck you from the shore. I'll never hear the end of his boasting now.
Anyway, Lady Arabelle is waiting for you out back."

To Catch a Magus[edit]

After starting the quest, Lady Arabelle will have the royal delegates sent to All Flags Castle for their protection. Meanwhile, you and she will head out to Mistmouth Cave to track down the Ascendant Magus. You can speak with Kaleen in Mandrake Manor before you leave:

"Mistmouth Cave? I know the place. A good spot to watch the seas and islands to the north and west. I'm not surprised the Ascendant Order might make use of the area.
Keep an eye on Lady Arabelle, will you? She forgets sometimes that she's retired."

The Ascendant Storm[edit]

After learning the true identity of the Ascendant Magus, you also learn of the Order's plans to attack All Flags Castle and kills the royal delegates there. Lady Arabelle will ask if you can find the Alliance Captains and ask for their help. You can find all three along with Caska outside the Gonfalon Gaming Hall, with Captain Kaleen feeling frustrated that they are not out there doing something:

Captain Kaleen: "Enough with the games! We should be out there doing something!"
Captain Za'ji: "Ever hear the old proverb? Opportunity arrives while Khajiit takes nap."
Captain Kaleen: "That doesn't even make any sense!"
Captain Za'ji: "It does when Za'ji's feet are tired."

Speak with Captain Kaleen to explain what is going on, and what Lady Arabelle wants to do:

"Good to see you, friend, but something is wrong. While you and Lady Arabelle were off, we scoured Gonfalon Bay for signs of the Ascendant Order. And we found nothing! Not even one of their damn pamphlets!
They're up to something, I know it!"
The Ascendant Order is sending warships to attack All Flags Islet.
"I knew it! That explains why we haven't been able to find any of their knights around Gonfalon Bay—the Ascendant Magus must have gathered all his forces to participate in the attack.
What do you need us to do?"
We're looking for a ship. Nereid's Song. It's in a hidden cove somewhere along the western coast.
"Hmm. The best place to hide a vessel on that part of the island is Jheury's Cove, north of the Navire Docks.
Let me guess. Nereid's Song is an Ascendant Order ship. You want to use it to slip past their fleet and rescue the alliance leaders."
Good guess. Lady Arabelle also needs someone to crew the ship after we steal it.
"Here, I'll mark the cove's location on your map. As for a crew, well, you're looking at your captain.
As for the rest, I'll see who I can drum up."

After this Za'ji and Tsuzo offer their services:

Captain Za'ji: "One captain is good. But two is even better, yes?"
Captain Tsuzo: "Make that three."
Captain Kaleen: "I can't ask you to join me in this."
Captain Za'ji: "You are not asking. Za'ji is telling."
Captain Kaleen: "Looks like I found a crew! Head to Jheury's Cove, friend. We'll collect Lady Arabelle and meet you there."

Speaking the Captain Kaleen again before leaving for Jheury's Cove:

"Don't worry. We'll collect Lady Arabelle and Jakarn, then meet you at Jheury's Cove.
Who knows? If I like the looks of this Ascendant Order scow, I just might make her the next Spearhead. I figure they owe me that much."

Once you reach Jheury's Cove, the captains, Caska, Lady Arabelle and Jakarn will be waiting for you on the cliff above the dock where the Nereid's Song sits. Lady Arabelle will notice you:

Lady Arabelle Davaux: "Oh, hello, dear. Captain Kaleen was about to tell us her plan. Why don't you ask her how she wants to proceed."
Captain Kaleen: "The ship looks seaworthy. We just need to get past those Ascendant Order knights."
Jakarn: "Always with the plans. I usually just wing it."

Speak with Captain Kaleen to see what she needs done:

"Looks like the Ascendant Order's almost done loading the ship. If we want to seize the Nereid's Song, it's now or never."
What do you need me to do?
"Cut the mooring lines. Start with the dock on the left and deal with any knights that get in your way. While they're busy with you, the rest of us will go around to the right and board Nereid's Song. We'll take care of the crew."
Cut the mooring lines. Got it.
"Once you've cut all three mooring lines, climb aboard. We'll do the rest.
And don't pull your punches with those Ascendant Order bastards. I lost a lot of good sailors when the Spearhead went down in their storm."

After you speak with Kaleen, she will adivse everyone to wait until you begin to cut the mooring lines:

Captain Kaleen: "Get ready, all of you. Once things begin, we'll need to move fast."

Speaking to her again:

"We'll wait for you to draw the knights' attention, then we'll seize the ship.
Go on. We're right behind you."

Once you have cut the first two mooring lines, the group will come down to the ship:

Lady Arabelle Davaux: "That's our signal! To the ship, everyone!"

When the mooring lines are cut, you can board the ship:

Captain Kaleen: "Aye! Give the word, friend, and we'll set sail!"
Captain Kaleen: "Nereid's Song is ours, Lady Arabelle!"
Lady Arabelle Davaux: "Excellent! Set course for All Flags Islet. There's no time to waste!"

Speaking with Captain Kaleen before you set sail:

"Well done, friend! We sail for All Flags Islet on your order. With a little luck, the Ascendant Magus will assume we're bringing expected reinforcements to join his attack."

When you arrive outside All Flags Castle, you will find the Ascendant Order is already underway. The Captains and Caska will stay to guard the ship while you, Lady Arabelle and Jakarn enter the castle. Speaking with Captain Kaleen before you leave:

"I think this next part's up to you and Lady Arabelle. But don't worry—we'll keep the Ascendant Order busy out here."

While in the castle, you will find and assist the Alliance leaders and then defeat the Ascendant Magus. Afterwards, the Ascendant Order attackers will flee. You can meet with everyone outside, speaking with Captain Kaleen before Lady Arabelle:

"High King Emeric looks no worse for wear. In fact, he seems rather happy. Your doing, my friend?
Know that you impressed me throughout this long ordeal. And it was good to fight alongside my fellow captains instead of against them. Very good."

After you have spoken with Lady Arabelle and completed the quest, some bantering will happen:

Prince Irnskar: "Surely we're done now? I could use a drink and a meal."
Queen Ayrenn: "It must have been tough getting captured by convicts on Amenos."
High King Emeric: "Good point, Ayrenn. But do remember, he's only a prince."
Prince Irnskar: "Raise a hand if you care what the high king thinks!"
<Za'ji raises his hand.>
High King Emeric: "Thank you, Za'ji."
Captain Za'ji: "Za'ji cares. Can we go home now?"
Caska: "Wrong royal, Za'ji. We're with the queen, remember? Now where did we leave that scow we stole?"
<Caska and Za'ji head to the dock.>
Captain Kaleen: "What, did no one tie up the ship before we ran into battle?"

A Chance at Peace[edit]

After rescuing the Alliance Leaders and defeating the Ascendant Magus, Lord Bacaro Volorus will decide to hold a celebration at Gonfalon Palace. Lady Arabelle will ask you to speaker with the Alliance Leaders separately to convince them to come. Once you have done so, you can head to the palace where Captain Kaleen will be one of the guests. Speaking with Kaleen before the ceremony starts:

"A few days ago I was sitting in a dank crypt, wondering when the Ascendant Order was going to slit my throat and feed me to the slaughterfish.
Didn't see anything like this in my future, that's for certain."
What's next for you, Captain Kaleen?
"I'm not going anywhere until High King Emeric finishes up what he came here to do. That's fine with me, though. It'll give me time to sign on a crew and put Nereid's Song in proper shape."
You plan to keep Nereid's Song?
"Lady Arabelle insisted and the duchess doesn't seem opposed. Still haven't decided whether to rename her. There's a lot of luck tied up in a ship's name.
Oh, and while I'm here I agreed to protect the delegates. I could use the extra gold."

Speaking with Kaleen again after the quest is completed:

"Nothing can replace the Spearhead or the crewmates I lost when she went down. But seeing the High King and all these other people alive and well goes a long way toward making things right.
Well … that and Nereid's Song, I suppose."
What's next for you, Captain Kaleen?
(Rest of the conversation is same as above.)

Dialogue[edit]

Wayrest[edit]

Kaleen can be found aboard her ship in Wayrest. Her dialogue depends on the decision made about the Carzog's Demise Relic. If the relic was destroyed:

Kept the Relic:
Destroyed the Relic:
"My friend! I didn't think we would meet each other again so soon. I have great news."
What is it?
"We're sailing for Daggerfall Covenant lands now. There's been action as well. A few days ago, the Aldmeri Dominion launched a surprise assault on Glenumbra.
They took Farwatch Tower along the coast, then swept down to attack the city."
What happened?
"The relic. After you turned it over, High King Emeric had the best minds in the Mages Guild examine it. They figured out how to turn it on the Dominion forces assaulting Daggerfall. It crushed them."
So the relic saved lives?
"Hundreds. The Dominion force was completely routed, and many soldiers were saved, not to mention the residents of the city.
The relic burned out after one use, but the Dominion doesn't know that. They won't hit Daggerfall again anytime soon."
That's good to hear.
"You should see Nicolene before you leave. Her brothers were there during the assault on Daggerfall. The Ayleid army appeared just before they would have been wiped out.
I think she wants to thank you herself."
"Well. What are you doing on my boat?"
I wanted to see how the crew was doing?
"We're sailing for the Daggerfall Covenant now. Privateering is as profitable as ever, except now we're splitting the skulls of Elves as well. Lambur and her lot have all left, probably for the better."
So she's started her own crew?
"Hardly. She couldn't raise enough money to buy her own ship. I offered to help, but she took that as an insult. I guess eight years of sailing together doesn't mean so much."
You must understand why the relic had to be destroyed.
"I understand that the Aldmeri Dominion sacked Farwatch in Glenumbra, and we couldn't stop them. I understand they've sunk dozens of our ships in cowardly assaults.
With that relic, we could have stopped those attacks."
It still doesn't justify using something so evil.
"Tell that to Nicolene. her brothers died when the Elves assaulted Daggerfall. We repelled them, but hundreds died. The Elves and their mad queen are chewing us up everywhere you look.
You should probably leave before I hurt you."

Sentinel[edit]

She can later be met in the Sentinel Palace where you can find out about her promotion.

"It seems everywhere I land, you turn up. Or is it the other way around?"
What are you doing here, Kaleen? / Have you thought about joining the Covenant Navy?
"I'm not one for rules or uniforms. I serve our king, but I do it my way, as my own woman.
You should see what Nicolene's been up to. She's my new first mate."
Are you now officially part of Fahara'jad's navy? / What brings you to Fahara'jad's palace?
"The Spearhead has done well against the Dominion. The king has seen fit to grant me a larger command.
The Spearhead now prowls with the Talonclaw, Leki's Grace, and the Black Revenant."
All under your command?
"There's no official title, but their captains follow me. We aren't part of the navy, and I'm not an admiral. But I feel like one.
Let me tell you, it's a good feeling."
Have you heard from Lambur? / Have you spoken with Lambur recently?
"I hear she and Captain Marck are getting on rather famously. Good for her. I regret how things ended between us."
How so?
"The relic we found on Betnikh ate the souls of her people. No matter its fate, I should have considered how that revelation would affect her.
If I had handled it better, she might still stand beside me."
Do you think she'll ever forgive you for wanting to keep it?
"She's an Orc. They're stubborn as mules, so no, I don't expect she'll ever speak to me again.
Doesn't matter. We both still have our lives. I won't spend mine in regret."

Furnishing[edit]

The inimitable Captain Kaleen seeks some shore leave before setting sail for her next job. If you've a bunk for her, she'll gladly take it. After adding Captain Kaleen to your home, you can set her on a path, plus you and your visitors can speak with her.

Houseguest Dialogue[edit]

"A clear horizon, a steady wind, salt spray in the air …. There's nothing that compares to being at sea."
"A word of advice? Never drink alone in a strange port. Go with your shipmates, or don't go at all."
"As long as I have my life, I won't spend it wallowing in regret."
"Back before the war, I spent a winter iced into port up in Skyrim. I'm still trying to warm up. I'll take sand and sun over fog and chill every time!"
"Don't spend too much time admiring your own wake. A wise captain keeps her eyes on the waters ahead, not behind."
"I admit I've never taken much pleasure in reading for reading's sake. I just don't have the patience for it."
"I always find the stars to be brighter the farther I am out to sea. I've spent many a dark watch talking with the Warrior or the Lady—they're friends to all sailors."
"I doubt I'd ever be content to fully settle on dry land. But I would like to travel across the continent some day. There are only so many things you can see from the deck of a ship and along the shore."
"I miss the days when rich Breton galleons were free for the taking. But I'll honor King Fahara'jad's alliance even if it makes me a beggar."
"I miss the Spearhead. A captain never really stops loving her first ship, after all. But I have to say I like the way Nereid's Song handles a fickle wind."
"I suppose I understand High Elves and Wood Elves sticking together. But if you ask me, the alliance between Elsweyr and Summerset makes for a strange marriage."
"I tend to be overly cautious. Comes from having one too many blades thrust at my back over the years."
"I used to think of myself as a sailor from Sentinel. But my true home is whatever deck I happen to be standing on."
"I wish the Khajiit and the Wood Elves would steer clear of Summerset's politics. I've got too many friends fighting on the side of the Aldmeri Dominion for my liking."
"If there's one thing Master Kasan taught me, it's that if you're good to your ship and your crew, then your ship and your crew will keep you alive. I've always tried to my best in that regard."
"If you ever find yourself in Anvil, watch your back. Seems like everyone there is ready to stick a knife in it."
"I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Rats … unsettle me. Whether on land or at sea, I insist on keeping my ship swabbed and clean. I just can't stand rats."
"It's bad luck to kill a seagull. I once had a shipmate who tested his marksmanship on a gull. The next day he slipped and fell from the crow's nest."
"It's no good waiting for the sunny isle your heart is set on. You need to take the helm and go find it."
"I've got an itch to sail the Padomaic Ocean. Point the bowsprit at the sunrise and keep on until I find something worth seeing."
"I've met a few kings and queens in my travels. To my surprise, most of them have exceeded my expectations."
"I've pulled off some pretty epic heists in my day. Both on land and at sea. Oh, I'm totally all law and order now. For the most part."
"I've sailed from one end of Tamriel to the other, mostly in service to the Daggerfall Covenant. I've served on many ships, but the Spearhead was the best of them.
Best vessel I ever captained."
"Master Kasan always told me not to be too quick to drop anchor. Sitting in one place too long gets you barnacles on your bottom."
"Master Kasan always warned me about spending too much time ashore. A sailor belongs on the sea."
"One thing I learned during my life at sea? You can sail into the wind if you're willing to spend the day tacking. But sometimes it makes more sense to wait for the breeze to change."
"Strange thing. I hated it when the Spearhead was beached at Stros M'Kai. But now, I kind of miss that place."
"There must be a tavern or a taproom close by. I could do with a tankard of watered rum and a bawdy song."

After completing related quests:

"I've had some time to think about the relic we found at Betnikh. I said some hard things to you that day. But I understand why you made the choice you did."
"You've come up in the world, friend. I can't believe that bit of flotsam we fished out of the waters by Stros M'Kai would turn out to be a hero like you."
