Vlanarus Kvinchal is an Imperial commoner living with his siblings, brother Kastav and sister Bronsila, in a shack in the Imperial City's Waterfront District. Tensions among the three are high, as evidenced by their dialogue about each other. In addition, it seems that Vlanarus has an addiction problem that was broadcast for all of Cyrodiil to hear when his arrest and confession was publicized in an issue of the Black Horse Courier.
Vlanarus has a very simple schedule. He can usually be found lazing around in his shack until 8am, at which point he ventures outside and strolls lazily around the District all day long, occasionally talking with the other citizens and always ready to hand you a copy of The Black Horse Courier. He does this for ten hours straight until 6pm, at which point he calls it quits and returns to the shack. He will then continue to hang around the confined space until he's ready for his next day of work. The two exceptions are when Hieronymus Lex is searching the Waterfront during the Misdirection quest; and during Light the Dragonfires during the attack on the city. In both cases, Vlanarus stays at home to avoid breaking curfew. At no point does he ever sleep (see Bugs).
Vlanarus wears a lower-class outfit consisting of a green wool shirt, blacksmith's pants, and a pair of oiled linen shoes. He wields an iron dagger, carries the key to the Kvinchal shack, as well as a few pieces of gold.
Dialogue[edit]
When meeting him for the first time, Vlanarus will quickly begin talking about his brother:
- "Vlanarus Kvinchal. Kastav is my brother, all right, but I'm nothing like that deadbeat."
When asked about the Imperial City, he will say;
- Imperial City
- "Kastav says he works. Ha! Flies land on him and he's too lazy to brush them off. I'm sick of taking abuse for him, even if he is my brother."
However, his sister Bronsila shares a similarly negative opinion of Vlanarus himself:
- "I'm Bronsila Kvinchal. And I'm so sick of that Vlanarus, I could scream."
- "I've worked on the docks as long as Vlanarus, but he thinks he's the expert. He's always looking over my shoulder, do it this way, do it that way."
Bugs[edit]
- Despite owning a bed in their shack, at no point does Vlanarus ever sleep. This is due to him lacking a sleep package altogether.
- The Unofficial Oblivion Patch, version 3.5.8, fixes this bug.
