Chieftain Frostfang was one of the leaders of the Rageclaw Claw during the Three Banners War in 2E 582. He led the Reachfolk alliance army during the assault of Fallowstone Hall against the Companions.[1][2]
History[edit]
Little is known of Frostfang's past. Despite the matriarchal nature of the Rageclaws,[3] he managed to attain the title of chieftain.[1][4] He was not ruling alone, however, as his female clan member, Lydi Snowpelt was also a Chieftain of the Rageclaw Claw at the same time.[5][6] They were ruling together, but the nature of their relationship was unknown.[6][4][1] Another member of the clan, Stral Blackthroat was also considered clan leader at that time.[1]
In 2E 582, the leadership of the clan decided that the Rageclaws would enter the alliance with two other Reachfolk clans: the Boneshapers and the Stonetalons. Leaders of the clans signed the treaty on the 3rd of the Frost Fall in 2E 582.[7] Soon the alliance aligned with the Cult of the Black Worm, which promised power and blessings of Molag Bal.[8][9][10] and invaded the Rift in 2E 582. Although both Lydi,[11] and Frostfang were part of the invasion force,[2][4][1] it was Stral who was the leader of both the Rageclaw clan invasion force and all the forces of the Reachfolk alliance.[1]
During the invasion, the Rageclaw led by Chieftain Frostfang assaulted the Fallowstone Hall to steal Wuuthrad in the hopes of reviving the half-giant chieftain, Sinmur and his army. The recruits of the Companions that stayed to protect the hall and its sage, Tirora, were killed. Most survivors fled to the shrines while the Reachmen sealed themselves in the inner vault,[1] and placed a ward on the vault.[2] Among his forces was Lessa Frostfang, his relative.[12]
Harbinger Vigrod Wraithbane and the King's Arrow led the fight to retake Fallowstone Hall, first by rallying any survivors. When the Companions discovered the ward, the King's Arrow made contact with Tirora's spirit, who dispelled the barrier. Chieftain Frostfang fought against the King's Arrow, but was ultimately killed. Despite that, the Reachfolk alliance managed to secure the legendary Wuuthrad.[2]
Ultimately the Reachmen alliance was defeated, however.[13][14] Lydi also met her demise.[11][15] The future of the Rageclaws is unknown, but their invasion of the Rift was thwarted.[13][16]
