Standardized image ratios for ESO[edit]

Hey Esh, I'm very happy to see you contributing with missing ESO images, but I need to point out that we use following standards for image sizes:

  • NPC/Creature - 1:1 ratio, aka square, for example 1000x1000 px. (try to center the object, no need for too much frame around it)
  • Quest/Place - 4:3 ratio, aka rectangle, for example 1200x900 px.

I'm using GIMP for cutting the images: it's an easy to use program.. but anything works really :)

Thanks![edit]

OK! I will take that into account and change the sizes of the images. — Unsigned comment by Esh (talkcontribs) at 22:23 on 29 April 2017 (UTC)

You've been doing fantastic work so far, keep it up! --AKB Talk Cont Mail 04:04, 1 May 2017 (UTC)
Agree with AKB! I love the images and the place descriptions you've written, Esh! :) Tib (talk) 10:04, 1 May 2017 (UTC)

Place descriptions[edit]

Well, actually another thing - could you move the more detailed description text down into the body of the article. Like I just did here for example - http://en.uesp.net/w/index.php?title=Online:Fort_Grimwatch&curid=169823&diff=1624538&oldid=1624472

The |desc thingy in infobox is for a short description as this is often displayed on other pages. E.g. the list of settlements in Reaper's March - notice how Vinedusk Village displays a long description, while the other settlements have short ones? Cheers, Tib (talk) 10:19, 1 May 2017 (UTC)

OK!! I will change the long descriptions down and keep making others. And regarding the lenght of the description, it depends on in-game information and some of the locations lack lore background. Regards. Esh (talk) 12:40, 1 May 2017 (UTC)

Hold on there![edit]

I was just wondering where you are getting the names of these buildings from?

Thanks! --Enodoc (talk) 11:23, 1 May 2017 (UTC)

Those buildings are there but they are not named in the game. So I named them by location, adding a description. I do not know yet how to add them to the world map. There should be another naming convention? Esh (talk) 13:30, 1 May 2017 (UTC)
Ah okay. If something doesn't have a name, it doesn't get its own page (unless it is a thing of special significance, like the Daggerfall Southern Docks, which used to have a name but no longer does). For incidental buildings like these, the best thing to do would be to add all the details directly to the Fort Grimwatch page. For example; "There are a number of ruined Imperial-style defensive towers located around Fort Grimwatch, constructed during the Second Empire occupation of Valenwood. It is possible to get into the lower interior levels of the southwestern and southeastern towers." --Enodoc (talk) 11:35, 1 May 2017 (UTC)
OK! Then I add that description and we erase those articles. Can you erase them? Esh (talk) 13:38, 1 May 2017 (UTC)
Sounds good, thanks! I will mark them for an Adminstrator to delete. Keep up the good work! --Enodoc (talk) 11:40, 1 May 2017 (UTC)

Advice[edit]

Hello and welcome to UESPWiki! Thanks for your interest in the wiki; however, you seem to have been making multiple edits to a page by not using the show preview button, clogging up the Recent Changes in the process. We appreciate your enthusiasm, but keep in mind that each edit needs to be patrolled, so multiple consecutive edits create an unnecessary hassle on those who patrol. So please utilize this feature! You may also want to look over our style guide and Getting Started guide. Feel free to ask if you have any questions. —Legoless (talk) 13:20, 6 May 2017 (UTC)

Sorry for that! It was my fault. I will use preview more Esh (talk) 13:23, 6 May 2017 (UTC)
I should also say great work on that page! You might be interested in adding your name to the Lore Places Project if you plan on doing more? —Legoless (talk) 13:26, 6 May 2017 (UTC)
Oh! I am just a begginer here! But I could help a bit, yes. I like to work on history and architecture of settlements. What should I do after I join the team? Esh (talk) 13:30, 6 May 2017 (UTC)
Just keep doing what you're doing, really. If you look at my changes to Lore:Southpoint, you'll notice I added a |writtenby=Esh to the {{cleanup-lpp}} tag at the top - that's all there is to it. —Legoless (talk) 13:32, 6 May 2017 (UTC)
OK! I am working in Arenthia now, and thanks! Esh (talk) 13:36, 6 May 2017 (UTC)

You're writing them faster than I can read them![edit]

Really nice work on all the lore page additions. Its always good seeing these kind of detailed updates, including all the obscure info from the ESO contraband items. Great to see a new lore editor on the wiki :D --Jimeee (talk) 16:05, 9 May 2017 (UTC)

Many thanks! Now I am gonna do a final edit to the cities of Valenwood and then, I put some work on the villages Esh (talk) 17:02, 9 May 2017 (UTC)

Userpatroller?[edit]

Hey Esh, you've been doing some good work on the wiki! I'd like to invite for you to get more involved with the UESP, and the first step to doing so is by joining the Userpatroller team. Just submit an application to that page, and you'll formally join or patroller team, with all the perks and privileges that entails. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 03:05, 18 June 2017 (UTC)

Many thanks! I have just done that. Regards. Esh (talk) 12:42, 18 June 2017 (UTC)

Userpatroller![edit]

Congratulations, you have been granted Userpatroller rights! Have fun! ~ Dwarfmp (talk) 15:12, 18 June 2017 (UTC)

Unused User Image[edit]

Hello. A few months ago, I proposed the deletion of one or more of your user images because they are not used anywhere on the wiki. You can view them at Category:Marked for Deletion. Please respond here or remove the {{prod}} tag on the images you would like to keep, if you are using the image in a way that cannot be seen via the "What Links Here" page or plan to use the image within the next few months.

If you do not respond within a month, the images will be deleted, although you can request any particular image to be restored if needed later on. —Dillonn241 (talk) 23:37, 16 June 2024 (UTC)
