Proposing a move rather than a deletion[edit]

The character this page covers seems to have been moved from the Helnim East Empire Company building to the Firewatch East Empire Company building, and renamed to Lora Avis. They remain a questgiver. I'd propose moving this page to a new Lora Avis page rather than deleting it, and then rewriting the page. I'm happy to do said rewriting once I've finished the pages for the quests this character gives.

(A bit weird I know, as asides from the name, and both being the main EEC questgiver in the region, the two characters have nothing in common. But this way the fact that Lora Avis was once a character called Lorus Avius is preserved.) - Presto (talk) 14:28, 1 January 2023 (UTC)

Fine by me. Should we then preserve all the redirects of renamed characters? I've marked several for speedy deletion, but that can easily be undone. - Sarilho1 (talk) 11:07, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
My brain isn't working as well as I'd like - sorry! I think I'd need an example of what's been marked for deletion to understand what sort of page you're referring to. I'm hoping to preserve the history of the old NPCs by moving their pages to their new names, particularly when it comes to questgiver NPCs like Lorus or Banviris. However, I'm guessing that the sort of pages/images you've been marking for deletion have even less historical interest than those NPC pages, and so it's okay to proceed with those deletions (old quest pages are maybe the exception here).
But I've a distinct feeling that I've misunderstood what your question was getting at! - Presto (talk) 15:38, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
Maybe I was the one misunderstanding. :) I was asking if redirects like Tamriel Rebuilt:Eloa Marie or Tamriel Rebuilt:Everos Caren should be kept or is it fine/better to delete them. I marked them for speedy deletion to avoid confusion, but maybe there's some value in keeping them. In this case, after moving Lorus Avius, would you prefer to keep the redirect or delete it?
Regardless of what happens with the redirects, I agree that the pages that can be moved as repurposed content should be moved, rather than deleted and recreated. So from my side, you are free to remove the deletion tag (from this and other pages that can be moved and I've marked for proposed deletion) and move the page to its new name. - Sarilho1 (talk) 16:19, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
Oh I see! Yes, those redirects can definitely go - the history/talk of the old page is moved to the new page when the move is made, so nothing is lost and there's no need to keep the redirect. - Presto (talk) 17:31, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
