Quick Walkthrough[edit]

  1. Get new orders from Micarya concerning Hlaalu influence, Hlerynhul and Andrethis.
  2. In either order:
  3. Return to Micarya.

Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

The Imperial Magistrate, Jinescean, has discovered further evidence of Hlaalu influence in the Fighters Guild, and has singled out the Andrethis and Hlerynhul chapters as being unduly influenced by the Great House. Micarya wishes for those guildhalls to strengthen their independence from Great House politics, and is sending you to ensure this.

Andrethis[edit]

Maren Othrenim, the former leader of the Israg Tong (Andrethis' old mercenary guild), is named as the medium by which Hlaalu influence is exerted on the Andrethis chapter. Maren can be found at the Backwater Cornerclub in the St. Veloth Quarter. It's on the west side of the quarter by the water's edge. Speak to Maren once inside. He'll immediately take umbrage at the mention of Hlaalu influence and will attack you. Kill him.

Hlerynhul[edit]

Micarya understands that the leader of the Hlerynhul chapter, Corter, is the one responsible for it falling slowly under the control of the town's leading light, Ivul Hleryn. Go to Hlerynhul. Corter's not initially very chatty on the topic, but asking around members of the guild (and of the Imperial Cult) will reveal a past alliance with Delis Llethri - the commander of the House Redoran garrison of Ald Marak.

Talk to Corter on learning this and he'll open up a bit more. He wants compensation for severing the over-close ties with Ivul Hleryn. The amount he demands at first is 5,000 gold, or 2,500 if you have already completed Marching against the Waters March. Talk to him again about Hlaalu influence to pay the demanded sum. Your other alternative is killing Ivul Hleryn itself, in which case Corter will concede that splitting with the Hlaalu now is unlikely to lose him any more business than has already been lost.

Back to Narsis[edit]

With both guildhalls distanced a little further from House Hlaalu, return to Micarya to complete the quest.

10Micarya wants me to free the Hlerynhul chapter from Hlaalu influence. She told me to speak with Corter or ask Hlerynhul citizens or local guild members about his motives.
20I learned that Corter used to work with Delis Llethri before Ivul Hleryn increased his funds on the Fighters Guild.
30Corter demanded that I pay him 5000 gold to reimburse his losses if he abandons all work for Ivul Hleryn.
40Considering my previous deeds at the Hlerynhul Fighters Guild, Corter demanded that I pay him 2500 gold to reimburse his losses if he abandons all work for Ivul Hleryn.
100Corter agreed to stop obeying the will of Ivul Hleryn.
200I told Micarya that the Fighters Guild in Hlerynhul is now free from Hlaalu influence.
