Reason for the Book Being Empty[edit]
It's pretty well established that the character the player controls has no set destiny (And, as such, the Elder Scrolls are vague about events over which a hero will have influence). The only point of "speculation" is whether the book actually has power or is just a fake.
It is perfectly valid that a player may, when they run across the book, search for this page to find out why it is empty. A line on the page explaining why is perfectly acceptable. — Unsigned comment by Liudeius (talk • contribs) at 21:49 on 17 March 2012
- Given the other items in Calixto's museum, It seems very likely that it's fake, along with the rest of the items in his tour, except the embalming tools which were clearly included simply to point out that Calixto has ancient nord embalming tools, throwing him on the suspect list if you paid attention (of course, you don't get the option to directly act upon this). — Unsigned comment by 68.44.254.146 (talk) at 06:02 on 29 March 2012

- I think that this may be an Easter Egg more than anything else, but it could be factual. After all, he did spend his entire life adventuring with his sister (unless that's a cover story for being a serial killer) and since the player can amass a large number of artifacts in a matter of days, it stands to reason that a man traveling with his sister could amass a few treasures (or rather, curiosities) over the course of many years. I personally laughed at Ysgramor's Soup Spoon, which may be real or just the subject of folklore. Likewise, the Book of Fate could be real, or it could be a fake. ?• JATalk 06:13, 29 March 2012 (UTC)

- I think it is possible that the book is real. Isn't the Book of Fate mentioned by Azura back in Oblivion when you complete her daedra quest? It's my belief that the Book of Fate is empty because the Dragonborn's destiny is not written in stone(other than the one on Alduin's Wall), and it is up to the player to decide how certain quests turn out, which questlines are followed, who wins the civil war, etc. 71.171.112.74 05:15, 12 October 2013 (GMT)
