Skyrim talk:Kodlak Whitemane

Origin of the name Kodlak[edit]
Possible origin of the name Kodlak may be in Czech language, where werewolf translates to "vlkodlak" and wolf translates to "vlk". If you almost separate wolf from the Czech translation, you get Kodlak. This may be the origin of his name. This is supported by the fact that character of Kodlak Whitemane wants to get rid off the wolf in him in the game. This theory is further supported by the fact that the character names Vilkas and Farkas mean wolf in other european languages. --Pavouk106 (with the help of user "enyamerT" from UESP forums, telling me about Vilkas and Farkas) 16:40, 6 March 2012 (UTC)
- I think that this could be the case given that other companion names mean wolf in other European languages. RIM 16:43, 6 March 2012 (UTC)
Dress in Inventory?[edit]
I saw on another forum that Kodlak's inventory includes a dress in it, but I can't confirm it because he's already dead in my play through. Reference to Little Red Riding Hood? — Unsigned comment by 96.250.18.45 (talk) at 11:42 on 7 April 2012
- There are no dresses in Skyrim, he probabaly carries some clothes, which can take the appearance of dresses on females, while they don't on males. (Eddie The Head 09:24, 9 April 2012 (UTC))
- Eddie the head: this is not true a dress exists in the game its the wedding dress and it can be gotten from your wife or during a Dark Brotherhood quest. As for Kodlak's he does not actually have anything in his inventory. Even if you possess the Perfect Touch and Misdirection skills it will still say nothing. Now this is when he is just present in Jorrvaskr and everything is normal. He might possess something when Silver Hand attacks or after his death (a weapon perhaps in case he then grabbed one to defend himself), but I have pickpocketed him several times to check and I possess both skills and he doesn't have anything ever on him. - The person posting on the forum was either using a mod, or mistaken. He doesn't have anything in his inventory, except for items that he may pick up. Also, the Wedding Dress only appears as a dress if you are female; if male, it looks similar to Fine Clothes. • JAT 20:27, 31 August 2012 (UTC)
- I actually have a wedding dress that I got off the bride during the Dark Brotherhood questline in which I had to kill the bride. I don't know if I can wear it but it is in my clothing section and it is a wedding dress and is called wedding dress. My character is a male Bosmer, I also got the wedding shoes like this. I am playing on the xbox 360 and so mods do not exist but I am looking right at it in my inventory. Darkcaptain3 22:53, 31 August 2012 (UTC)
- For me its a white dress that actually looks like a wedding dress and what she was wearing.Darkcaptain3 23:27, 31 August 2012 (UTC)
(←) Are you just looking at it from your inventory, or did you actually put it on and look at your character? ABCface◥ 23:33, 31 August 2012 (UTC)
- Looking at it in the inventory as they stated both that dresses don't exist and that a dress exists but it looks like Fine Clothing. He didn't state that if you wore it that thats when its appearance would change to look like Fine Clothing. I was just trying to make sure everything was understoodDarkcaptain3 00:12, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
Need to add on this npc[edit]
His hours of sleep should be added or whether he sleeps at all. This would be useful as some nice items exist in the room he is always sitting in and it can be hard to get to them without him seeing. Darkcaptain3 20:08, 31 August 2012 (UTC)
Combat Dialogue[edit]
Can we bring up an actual discussion about this and stop the edit war? In my opinion, his combat dialogue is completely deserving of a mention on the page, since it's unique and can be encountered in normal gameplay simply by attacking him. —Legoless (talk) 16:46, 11 August 2013 (GMT)
- I don't see any issue with this information being added, on the condition that it's merged into the main body rather than in its own section. — ABCface◥ 17:37, 11 August 2013 (GMT)
Script that gets Kodlak into Sovngarde[edit]
I've been looking for the script that enables Kodlak in Sovngarde, but I can't seem to find it. I look at a script and I see Ulfric, Galmar, Rikke, Svaknir, and Froki, but not Kodlak. Could anyone please help? Pacingpal (talk) 20:10, 14 April 2022 (UTC)
- Kodlak in Sovngarde is referred to in the Creation Kit as MQ304Kodlak. It has an enable parent set, an xmarker called MQ304CompanionsEnableMarker which is in the Hall of Valor. That marker is referenced by the MQ304 Sovngarde quest. In the MQ304 quest fragments script, fragment 39 enables this marker. This fragment is part of stage 5 of MQ304. The second log entry of this stage checks if quest C06 "Glory of the Dead" has completed stage 200. If so, the marker is enabled, which in turn enables MQ304Kodlak. --Olaus (talk) 04:27, 17 September 2024 (UTC)
