The Torturer's Assistant is an Imperial barbarian encountered in Helgen Keep during the quest Unbound.
He is working under the Imperial's resident Torturer and you will, during your escape with Hadvar, find him battling a few Stormcloak soldiers in the torture room midway through the keep. If you manage to rescue him, he will join you as a very early follower, although for a limited time only.
He wields an iron mace and wears a set of Imperial light armor with matching boots and bracers.
After the torture room is cleared, he will stay in the background while Hadvar argues loudly with his stubborn master and say nothing but "Worry about yourself." After listening to the conversation for a while, he will impatiently say, "Forget the old man. I'll come with you." and join you and Hadvar as you explore the cave. During the trek, he will only say, "We need to find a way out of here." After defeating the Stormcloak soldiers in the room with the bridges, he will suddenly have second thoughts about his master, saying, "I better stay back and see to the old man. Good luck you two." and stay behind.
