Bonestrewn Crest

Bonestrewn Crest is a mountaintop dragon lair south of Windhelm. Its word wall teaches part of the Frost Breath dragon shout.

Walkthrough[edit]

The lair is riddled with mammoth bones, hence the name "Bonestrewn". It has a blueish mist, and a number of dragon's tongue plants grow here. It can be accessed via a slope on the south side. The word wall is found at the top of the hill.

Before the dragons' return, the word wall will be guarded by three skeletons.

After the dragons' return, the word wall will be guarded by a leveled dragon.

Regardless of whether Dragon Rising has been completed, the boss chest is north of the word wall.

Notes[edit]

  • There are two iron ore veins here; one is on the right just before reaching the top of the slope, and the other is to the right just after reaching the top.
  • One orichalcum ore vein can be found 140 ft west-southwest, at the bottom of the mountain.
  • The dragon that spawns here does not rest on the word wall or the ground before it; instead, it constantly circles the mountain until it detects you or a follower, whereupon it will initiate combat.
  • Due to the location's proximity to Steamcrag Camp and another giant herding two mammoths in the tundra below, the dragon might choose to fight them during its battle with you.
  • Bonestrewn Crest also appears in ESO.
