Quest-Related Events[edit]

After the completion of A Mysterious Event, Peek-Ereel will pass on a message to meet with Tee-Wan at the graveyard near Gideon regarding a private matter. When you arrive, you can find him talking with Vos-Huruk:

Tee-Wan: "I told you not to spook him."
Vos-Huruk: "I was perfectly civil."
Tee-Wan: "Your brand of civility leaves much to be desired."
Vos-Huruk: "Hmph."
<The pair turn to regard you.>
Tee-Wan: "Ah, good. You've arrived."

Speaking with Vos-Huruk before Tee-Wan:

"Tee-Wan summoned you. Not me. Speak to him."

After you have spoken with Tee-Wan and agreed to talk to Melyn Drad, you have the option of talking to Vos-Huruk before you leave:

"Thanks for your help. Word of advice? Step lightly around the Dark Elf when you speak with him. He scares easy. I think he soiled his robes when I first asked him about Xocin.
Tee-Wan says that's my fault, though I do not see how."
Can you tell me more about Xocin?
"I have great love for him, but we have always been opposites. When we were hatchlings, I was busy bloodying my scales while he was mixing alchemical tinctures. He is brave, and he is often too clever for his own good.
I worry for him."
What do you think is going on?
"No clue. But Xocin is a master conjurer and a veteran of many battles, I have no doubt that whatever trouble he's gotten himself into, it will not get the better of him.
Still, I believe he needs our help, whether he asks for it or not."

When you speak with Melyn, you will learn that Xocin approached him to create a special ritual stone for a Daedra summoning. He instead to him to go to Doomvault Porcixid to find one, and implied to you that Xocin had fallen in love with one of the Kyn that he had summoned previously. When you return to the graveyard, Vos-Huruk will call out to you:

Vos-Huruk: "You're back. Any luck?"

As Tee-Wan isn't there, you can tell Vos-Huruk what you learnt, and she will tell you the story about Xocin and the Daedra he fell in love with:

"Tee-Wan went off to do a bit of investigating on his own, but he said he would return soon.
Did you manage to get anything out of that idiot Melyn Drad?"
Xocin went to a vault in the border marshes.
"Ugh. These vaults make my scales itch. There's a power to them. More tempting to mages than most, I suspect.
Did Melyn say what Xocin's after?"
A ritual stone. He mentioned something about Xocin being in love.
"Love? Oh, not this again.
By seed and spleen, I would bet anything that he's trying to reach Xyria."
Who's Xyria?
"It's a long story.
Back when the Black Fin Legion went to war against the Akaviri alongside the Ebonheart Pact, Xocin summoned an entire cohort of Dremora warriors to help turn the tide. Xyria was among them, more loyal to Xocin than all the rest."
So what happened?
"They fell for each other on the battlefield. Then, Xyria died for him. Of course, that's what conjured servants do for their masters. But Xocin didn't see it that way. Not with her.
Wait. Here comes Tee-Wan."

You can then listen to Vos-Huruk and Tee-Wan's conversation:

Tee-Wan: "Xocin hasn't contacted anyone else in the Legion. Tell me you have something."
Vos-Huruk: "He's looking for Xyria."
Tee-Wan: "Ah, I should have guessed."
Vos-Huruk: "Well, that explains why he didn't tell us anything."

Speaking with Vos-Huruk before Tee-Wan:

"By the Egg … we were all different after that battle. Fighting alongside Nords, Dunmer, even Daedra. Every one of us changed. We all lost something.
I thought Xocin had finally moved on. I should've seen he was still in pain."

When you tell Tee-Wan what you know, he will ask you to go to the Doomvault and find Xocin and get him to listen to reason. You can speak with Vos-Huruk before you leave who will explain her feelings about the situation:

"It feels wrong asking you to head into that vault on our account. But I have my orders.
I'm sure you can handle yourself, and I know Xocin can too. Still … got a bad feeling about this. Be careful."
Do you think Xocin is really in love with a Daedra?
"I don't know much about love, but I do know warfare.
All I can say is when you put those two together on a battlefield, it's quite a sight to behold. Maybe that means something."
Can Xocin really bring Xyria back?
"I don't know much about conjuration either. I'd say Xocin can do just about anything in the right place with the right tools at his disposal.
So yes, he probably can. Though I'm not sure it's a great idea."
Why not?
"She's a Kyn. Dremora. Daedra. In my experience, they're only loyal when a conjurer has them bound nice and tight.
I know she and Xocin bonded in battle. That doesn't mean I trust her. Likely never will."

Deep inside the Doomvault, you will find an injured Xocin. After he found a Xynaz Stone, he immediately tried to summon Xyria only for the chaotic nature of the place to cause the spell to backfire. After you help recharge the stone for him, Xocin will leave the Doomvault to meet with Tee-Wan and Vos-Huruk. They will be talking when you arrive:

Tee-Wan: "Good to have you back, brother."
Vos-Huruk: "Would've preferred not to have to send someone after you."
Xocin: "I know. I am grateful to you all, but I had to take this chance."

Talking with Vos before Xocin:

"I'm impressed. You return from Doomvault Porcixid and don't seem the slightest bit shaken.
We could use someone like you in the Black Fin Legion."

Speaking with Xocin, you will learn that he still wishes to try and summon Xyria but there has been disagreement over it. While Tee-Wan feels that Xyria could be a valuable ally for the coming battles, Vos-Huruk is wary as Xyria is an outcast Dremora and her former clan could cause problems. You can speak with Vos and Tee-Wan before making a decision:

"Of course Xocin still wants to summon her, I should have known.
But we must consider our course carefully. Having a Dremora in our midst could affect far more than just our own family."
You think it's too dangerous to summon Xyria?
"You have seen the dangers General Keshu and the rest of us face now. Vaults of Oblivion, cultists in service to Mehrunes Dagon, and tenuous alliances to meet them.
Now is simply not the time to take unnecessary risks."
Xocin says Xyria could be a powerful ally.
"Against any other foe, yes. She is of the Deadlands, the home plane of the very enemies we've found on our doorstep. An outcast Dremora at our side may only serve to draw the full might of Dagon's armies down on our heads.
Think on this."

After you have made your decision, you will need to speak with Tee-Wan. Speaking with Vos if you thought Xyria should be summoned:

"I hope this won't come back to bite us in the tails. Still, I hold no grudge. Xyria is important to Xocin. As long as she is with us, I will help keep her safe.
And if she turns on us, well … I'll send her back into the fire myself."

However, if you decide it is too risky for Xyria to be summoned. Xocin will decide to go to her instead:

Xocin: "I respect your wishes. But I'm sorry, I cannot lose this chance."
Xocin: "I'm sorry, Tee-Wan, Vos-Huruk. If I cannot bring Xyria here, then I will go to her."
Tee-Wan: "Xocin, wait!"
<Xocin creates a portal and enters it.>
Vos-Huruk: "See, Tee-Wan? This is what happens when you fall in love."

Speak to her before finishing the quest and she'll only say:

"I believe this is the right decision. I do not wish to see my egg-brother suffer, but we must look beyond our own needs now. For the greater good.
When the time is right, I promise I will help him reunite with Xyria."

Speaking with Vos-Huruk afterwards:

"That's Xocin. Impulsive as ever.
Don't worry. That wasn't your fault. What's important is that we at least know what's going on now. We are egg-siblings, and we will always look out for him."
