Quest-Related Events[edit]
After the rieklings crash the party, and you follow the clues, you'll find Vestrek outside of a cave. He saw Valding dragged off by rieklings and he suspects the rieklings were provoked by the celebration at Cragwallow:
- "There was nothing I could do."
- I'm looking for Valding the Bard.
- "I'm one of the royal workers. I followed the creatures that dragged off the bard. Rieklings, unless I miss my guess. They haven't been seen around these parts in years.
There were too many of the foul creatures. I couldn't help him." - Where did they take him? / And where did the rieklings take the bard?
- "Into that cave. I never even knew there was a cave up here.
He was still alive when they dragged him in there. The Goblins seemed excited about something."
- "Into that cave. I never even knew there was a cave up here.
- What's a riekling?
- "Nasty little Goblins. Disgusting creatures, in my opinion."
- Have you searched the cave?
- "I'm a road worker, not a soldier. I'm not going to walk into a den of rieklings. That would be suicide!
Whatever has the rieklings so riled up probably led to the attack on Cragwallow. I hope you can save the bard and figure out what's going on." - I'll search the cave.
If you chose to leave Valding to the rieklings, Vestrek will be out of his cover and waiting outside of the cave. He ask what happened to the bard:
- "I don't see that bard fellow with you. Did those creatures kill him?"
- The bard was a thief. His enchanted lute attracted the rieklings.
- "What? He seemed so harmless. And kind of talented. What a shame."
- The lute put people to sleep so he could rob them.
- "But the rieklings grabbed him before he finished robbing us.
So where's the lying bard now? Did the rieklings kill him?" - I left him to his fate after I destroyed the lute.
- "A sorry tale. The lying bard got many of my friends killed.
I'll tell the others what happened. A rough end, but fitting for one such as him."
If you exit the conversation before turning in the quest, he will say:
- "I don't see that bard fellow with you. Did those creatures kill him?"
- I destroyed the lute and left the bard in a cage. (Leads to quest completion dialogue)
After the quest, he will say:
- Vestrek Raven-Eye: "I'm going to scout around a bit, make sure the creatures have retreated."
