Detailed Walkthrough[edit]
East of Koeglin Village's wayshrine, between Vanne Farm and Nightmare Crag, you'll find a man named Brother Perry tied up on the ground. He will ask for your help, saying Supernal Dreamers have captured the owner of the farm, Ingride Vanne. He is unwilling to divulge further information in such a dangerous place, though, so untie him and he will run off. Find him near the big bridge northeast of the farm.
Perry will tell you that he was on his way back to Pariah Abbey and stopped over at Vanne Farm for the night, the same night when the Supernal Dreamers attacked. The Dreamers serve the Daedric Prince of Nightmares, Vaermina, and weren't thought much of a threat until now. If asked, he will elaborate on Vaermina and the Abbey he is part of — which he admits is a cult devoted to Azura, Daedric Prince of Dawn and Dusk, only allowed to operate by King Emeric because Azura is benevolent, unlike Vaermina. He will say that Ingride has been put into an enchanted sleep in front of a portal to Vaermina's domain, and the Supernal Dreamers plan to summon a Daedric spirit to possess her. To free her, you have to break the enchantment, which requires reversing the ritual.
You now have the option to either go along with Perry's plan as he outlines it, or intimidate him (requiring a perk in the Fighters Guild skill Intimidating Presence) into helping you.
If you intimidate him, he will give you his amulet (citing that he is a liability in a fight) and direct you to gather a dremora heart, a scamp heart, and his ritual candle, which was left in Vannes' barn. You must use them in order: dremora heart to summon the spirit, then the candle to enchant it, then the scamp heart to dispel it. He will warn you that doing it out of order could have serious consequences.
You can probably gather the dremora heart just by making a beeline for the barn; there are a couple of dremora on the stone bridge near the barn. Here you'll find that, when used, the amulet will knock back enemies that are too close and stun them. Upstairs in the barn are Anais and Giraud Vanne, the elderly parents of Ingride. The candle is on a barrel. You'll have to go a bit farther south to grab a heart from the scamps in the field; the ones in the barn will not drop any. Once they're all gathered, head to the other side of the bridge you met Perry by, to a large building with a water wheel.
Inside, Ingride lies writhing in front of a large fire. Three pedestals are in front of her. If you try to talk to her, she's already under the influence of the Daedric spirit, so place the three items on their pedestals and activate them, left to right (Dremora Heart, then Ritual Candle, then Scamp Heart). A purple glow will surround each if you have it right, and you will be knocked back if you choose the wrong order. Finally, Ingride will be free.
She's disoriented, but grateful. You will receive the Knavish Mucking Boots and gold as a reward. Talk to Ingride further to receive the quest Rozenn's Dream.
Quest Stages[edit]
<Alias=LocationHold>
) is dynamically set by the game and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game.
- Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
