Geirmund's Guardian[edit]

He will direct you to speak with the thane about the trials.

"Well met. You look a little lost. Are you looking for the kegs? Or the competition?"
Competition? What competition?
"Folk from around the Rift come to feast at Geirmund's Hall. Every year, the Thane hosts a competition to name a champion.
If you're interested, speak to Vofknir up at the manor."
I'll do that.

You can ask him more about the area.

"Talk to Thane Vofknir."
How did Geirmund's Hall get its name?
"Beneath this island lies the tomb of Lord Geirmund. He was a hero, long ago.
Are you familiar with Geirmund's Oath?"
How does it go?
"Lord Geirmund, great battlemage,
saved the Rift in Harald's age.
He slew the wicked Gauldur three,
and set their father's spirit free."
Go on.
"His tomb was built upon this lake,
and in his name this oath I take.
Should evil come, should night descend,
I swear the Rift I will defend."

Save Your Voice[edit]

After speaking to Runehild, you'll find Logod on the road to Ivarstead, battered but safe. He will mention that Jakaral acted as a distraction to let his friends escape from the giants:

"Oh thank Kyne! Can you see to Jakaral?
He lured the giants away from us so we could escape."
You sure he's the only one in there?
"Yes, yes! Just him. Please, hurry!"

Lead Jakaral back to Geirmund's Hall and he'll be waiting with Thane Vofknir. He will be playing the lute to celebrate your return:

"I could hear the giants howling from here. How many did you kill? A hundred? A thousand?"
