Once you start rescuing him:

Cynric Acques: "Don't get any of them on me!"

Kill them and he'll be grateful:

Cynric Acques: "You—you saved me! those crabs were going to … touch my legs with their disgusting shells."

Until a Colossal Coral Crab appears and crushes him with its claws:

Cynric Acques: "Not another one!"

Cynric Acques: "No! Not another crab!"
