Quest-Related Events[edit]
As you approach her outside the shop, you may hear her complain:
- "Damn that greedy captain! Double damn my empty coin purse!"
Speak with her to see what is going on:
- "You there! Want to make some coin and help a marooned sailor get off this accursed rock?"
- Did your ship sink or something?
- "I wish it was that simple. I'm in debt to a crooked keel of a pirate—Captain Artellas. He's a scoundrel. Violent, ruthless, and the most underhanded Sea Elf I've ever met.
I'd rather be in a rowboat with no oars than spend another day in his crew." - Can't you just quit?
- "Ha! You wouldn't last long at sea. You don't just quit a Sea Elf crew.
On top of that, the captain says I owe him. He means to collect. If I find something valuable to sell, Wankeen the trader will pay handsomely. Help me out and you'll get a cut." - All right, I'll help you clear your debt to Captain Artellas.
After you agree to help Cirwynia, you will soon have to make a choice of what treasure lead to follow. This will effect what you do in the quest:
- "Wankeen heard rumor of two items worth enough to clear my debt. His sources aren't picky when it comes to safety or ownership.
One of them is in an old antiquarian's hut. The other is in a Worm Cult camp. So, rob a harmless old man or an evil cult?" - Tell me more about these options.
- "Well, I'm no friend of the Worm Cult. It could be called a public service to steal from them. But they might give us more trouble.
If you're less particular, the antiquarian is surely the easier target. And probably the bigger haul. It's up to you." - I'll help you rob the Worm Cult camp. It's the better option.
[verification needed — worm cult branch needs to be checked]
- "A moral streak, huh? I can work with that. According to Wankeen, the Worm Cult stole an heirloom from a High Elf estate. We'll steal it back, then he'll pay out enough to cover my debt and your cut.
Let's meet back here once you've grabbed the item." - All right. How do you want to proceed?
- "Let me mark the location of the Worm Cult camp. We'll meet there and stake it out before we strike.
Then we get paid and my troubles are finally over."

- A bigger haul, you say? Let's rob the antiquarian's hut.
- "No qualms about getting your hands dirty? You might be a good pirate after all.
Wankeen says an old antiquarian recently dug up a Tide-Born idol. We'll grab it from his hut and bring it back here. Easy money. Let's meet at the shop once we have it." - All right. How do you want to proceed?
- "Let me mark the location of the antiquarian's hut on your map. He's supposed to be out excavating another site, so it should be simple. Get inside, grab the item, and get out before anyone notices.

After you have made your choice, you can ask Cirwynia questions about her situation:
- How did you wind up in debt to Captain Artellas in the first place?
- "There's not much to tell. I needed a job and embarked with a bad crew and worse captain. It didn't take long to see how vicious Artellas and his lot were, or how greedy his contract was. It was a barnacle-brained move to sign on without reading it."
- You signed a contract?
- "It's not uncommon on Sea Elf ships. But the terms of this contract are especially bad. It indebted me to the captain immediately, and Artellas falsifies his records so the crew always owes more than we make on any voyage. It's brutally efficient."
- And you think this robbery is the way out?
- "I just need to earn more than I owe without the captain's involvement. He can't claim a cut of the profit if it isn't his job. I can't wait to see the look in his eye when I hand over the payment from Wankeen.
Then, it's the next ship out of here."
The Antiquarian's Hut can be found in the ruins on the southwest corner of the island, in the shadow of the mountain. When you arrive, Cirwynia will join you as your follower:
- Cirwynia: "This is the place. Let's find that treasure."
Speaking to her before continuing:
- "Stay quiet. Should be easy to sneak into the antiquarian's hut and steal the idol, but I still don't want to attract any undue attention.
Stealth is what separates the good pirates from the great."
As you get closer, she will notice the Caravan Horse grazing outside and realizes what that means:
- Cirwynia: "Seething tides! He wasn't supposed to be here. Be careful."
Instead of an in and out job, you will need to sneak around the small hut to steal the idol, while avoiding Antiquarian Telderrin. There will be baskets to hid in, and the Tide-Born Idol will be on the table on the far side of the room.
Once you have grabbed the idol, Cirwynia will leave and tells you to meet her back at the shop:
- Cirwynia: "That's the idol! Meet me back at Wankeen's shop to settle things."
- [verification needed — what happens if you kill Antiquarian Telderrin?]
After you have collected the idol or heirloom, you can return to Wankeen's Shop where Cirwynia will be waiting for you by the campfire:
- Cirwynia: "Over here, friend. Don't mind Wankeen. He'll wait for us."
She will want you to hand over the stolen item, and asks for suggestions for haggling with Wankeen:
|
|
- "Hopefully it's that easy. But Captain Artellas is sharper than a knife at your neck. I learned not to underestimate him during my time in his crew.
Now, I need to haggle with Wankeen. Any suggestions for dealing with the locals?" - Just stick to your original deal with Wankeen. Everything should be fine.
- "You're probably right. No need to overcomplicate things.
I'll ask Wankeen to pay me what he promised. It should be more than enough to pay off my debt and give you a cut." - Here's the heirloom. Good luck dealing with Wankeen / Here's the idol. Good luck dealing with Wankeen.
- "You're probably right. No need to overcomplicate things.
- Be nice. You catch more torchbugs with honey than vinegar, you know.
- Stand firm and demand your fair share. You can't trust anyone who deals in stolen goods.
Afterwards, Cirwynia will approach Wankeen with stolen item to complete their deal:
In the backroom, Captain Artellas will be waiting with two Pirate Deckhands. There is no way to negoiate and you'll have to kill the trio while defending Cirwynia. Talking to her before starting the fight:
- "Captain Artellas will never let us leave here alive. We're going to have to fight our way out."
After you have killed Captain Artellas and the deckhands, Cirwynia will comment:
- Cirwynia: "Not the most elegant solution. Let's talk."
Despite dealing with the captain, there is still the matter of Wankeen and Cirwynia will want your advice:
|
|
- "If we were at sea I'd toss him overboard and let the waves decide. But on land we'll have to take a more pragmatic approach. That lying worm almost got me killed.
What do you think I should do with him, friend?" - What happens between you and Wankeen isn't any of my business. That's for you to decide.
- "I suppose that's fair. You already helped steal a treasure to pay off my debt. And you fought with me against Artellas and his crew. I won't make you take on this problem as well.
Just don't judge me for whatever I may choose to do."[verification needed — see talk page] - What will you do after you've dealt with Wankeen?
- "I suppose that's fair. You already helped steal a treasure to pay off my debt. And you fought with me against Artellas and his crew. I won't make you take on this problem as well.
- Wankeen was forced to betray you. Make him hold up his end of the deal and be done with it.
- "You're probably right. The captain could be very persuasive when he wanted to be. A spineless sop like Wankeen never stood a chance.
As long as he honors our deal and pays up, I'll let that maggot live."[verification needed — see talk page] - What will you do after you've dealt with Wankeen?
- "You're probably right. The captain could be very persuasive when he wanted to be. A spineless sop like Wankeen never stood a chance.
- Wankeen has no honor and almost got us killed. He should pay with his life.
- "My thoughts exactly. I'll make an example of him. Now that I'm free of Artellas, I have a reputation to uphold.
You and I will settle things first, though. No sense involving you in any more of my messes. I can take care of Wankeen myself." - And after he's dead? What then?
- "My thoughts exactly. I'll make an example of him. Now that I'm free of Artellas, I have a reputation to uphold.
Leaving and returning to conversation to complete the quest at this point:
- "I'd sooner swim from here to High Isle than sign on with a disreputable captain again."
- I believe you promised me a cut of the profit if I held up my end of the bargain.
- "You earned this—the last few coins in my pocket before I get what I'm owed from Wankeen. It feels good to be off that damn captain's crew, even if I'm marooned for now.
If you need a crew member for your next job, I'd be happy to sign on."
Talking to Cirwynia in the back room before leaving:
- What will you do now?
- "Now that I'm out from under the captain's thumb, I can do whatever I want. I'll probably head to Sunport first, then try to get work on another ship out of Solstice.
Don't worry, I plan to read the contract before I sign it this time."

After you have helped Cirwynia out of her debt, she can be met in the Palace District of Sunport. She will be in the south west corner of the district, surrounded by crates. You can talk to her to see how she's doing:
