Quest-Related Events[edit]
After waking up following the bard's performance during the quest, he enters the Mead Hall and says:
- Arvild Gray-Sky : "What happened here? There are dead and injured people all over the place! And who are you?"
Upon speaking to him, he wanted to know what happened to his workers after he sees them all dead or injured. He wants to see if the survivors know anything about the attack:
- "I need to figure out what happened here. My friends deserve answers."
- I don't know what happened.
- "I'm the overseer for the royal work crews in this area. When I left for Windhelm a few days ago, my workers were hale and whole.
Now I come back to find many of them cut down and the rest injured and confused. I need answers!" - I must have blacked out.
- "You and anyone else who survived whatever happened here.
I need to report to Jarl. How did you end up in Cragwallow?" - The workers invited me to join their celebration.
- "My gut tells me you aren't responsible. No injuries, but you seem to be recovering your wits well enough.
Help me investigate what happened. Talk to some of the survivors. Let's see if we can piece together recent events." - I'll talk to some of the survivors.
He'll then run off, saying:
- Arvild Gray-Sky : "We need to figure out what happened here."
Speaking to him again, he'll say:
- "I can't believe this happened. All my friends …."
After speaking to the survivors, you return to Arvild who will be waiting outside the porch of the hall, he will find it strange that Valding is missing after the attack:
- "Everyone seems confused. Did you find out anything at all?"
- People remember having fun, then listening to the bard. Then they were attacked.
- "In a haze of memories, that bard and his music stand out like the sun on a clear winter's day.
But where is he? I don't see a bard among the living or the dead." - We need to find that bard.
He will suggest combing the area to find any traces of the bard:
- "I agree. Search the area and see if you can find him. People remember music and the bard is missing. A coincidence? Maybe, but I don't like the sound of it.
I'll stay here to help the wounded and keep watch over the camp." - I'll find the bard.
If you speak to him again before leaving, he'll say:
- "I need to figure out what happened here. My friends deserve answers."
After the quest, if you choose to release the bard, he'll have sympathy for Valding:
- "The bard returned, telling a strange tale about an enchanted lute. He seemed quite distraught."
- The rieklings were drawn here because of the lute.
- "Indeed. That's what Valding said.
The poor sod's in the foreman's cottage, recovering. Imagine, having an enchanted lute and not even realizing it."
If you leave the bard in the cave, he'll say:
- "I'm not sure we'll ever feel safe here again."
