Oblivion talk:Pennus Mallius

I just destroyed the Oblivion Gate outside Leyawiin. Pennus Mallius was outside (I'd never met him before), and he died instantly upon my return. Can anyone explain this?

Well, i was Just walking around coming from leyawin when i found this guys dead body beside a land dreugh, far from any civilization, so i thought i would look him up.

It happens. His AI causes him to walk to Leyawiin every so often and he can be killed on the way. The other question is trickier, but Mallius was probably killed during the player's trip into Oblivion and was only updated on his exit. –RpehTCE 18:14, 19 January 2008 (EST)
I was at the All-Saints Inn, Pennus was sitting at the bar having dinner. All of a sudden, he just keels over and dies. Maybe he ate a poison apple. 174.95.223.170 10:19, 24 April 2023 (UTC)

I talked to him while doing the Eye of Nocturnal quest, and he had conversation topics pertaining to it! He spoke at length about Weebam Na and Bejeen, and i could ask him about the eye of nocturnal as well, although he only said he hadn't heard of it. Why does he have these conversation topics? He has nothing to do with the quest, and he wasn't even in Leyawin at the time. Does he ever go to Leyawin, and if so, is that why he talks about this? — Unsigned comment by 67.213.244.79 (talk) on 8 April 2009

The article isn't exactly ambiguous on this: "Pennus travels regularly to Leyawiin". Please read before asking questions. He's also in the Leyawiin faction, which is why he can talk about Leyawiin. –RpehTCE 00:38, 8 April 2009 (EDT)

Confusing Note[edit]

On the Note: "On the 21st of every month, if Bogrum gro-Galash is alive, at midday he will head for the Black Horse Courier in the Market District and spend five hours chatting with the Khajiiti proprietors before resuming his usual routine. This is because he was initially scheduled to take part in an unfinished courier quest."

First of all, it's unclear what Bogrum has to do with this. Is his life or death the determining factor of whether or not Pennus will travel to the Black Horse Courier? Or was the note actually stating that Bogrum will travel there? As Bogrum's schedule would not belong on this page, I'm going to go ahead and change the "he" before "midday" to "Pennus" to clarify what I think was the meaning of the note. Just thought I'd mention it here in case. Feel free to reverse the edit if I'm wrong for some reason. Facebag 15:38, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

I think it should be implemented into the schedule and not as a note. We have to have that discussion at some point over at the ONPCRP, because we use both methods on a lot of pages and we might as well be consistent. If you look at the Fathis Ules page the exception is nicely integrated in the schedule and I think that is the best way. --Krusty 18:06, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
@Facebag: I don't see how this could possibly be confusing. Of course Bogrum being alive is the condition, that's why if is present in front of it. And of course the "he" refers to Pennus, as you said yourself, this is Pennus' page right?
@Krusty: I wasn't aware of any discussion, but I found integrating it in the text hard. Should it go before the "1st of every month"? I think not, but at that point, I was having a tough time writing something decent. If any of you two can do it better feel free, since I too would prefer it in the text. --SerCenKing Talk 20:33, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
There is no discussion, but maybe my post was a bit confusing. I just meant that maybe we should reach an agreement on how to write the Courier thing on the NPC pages. As of now, we add it as notes on several pages - and within the schedule on other pages. But when I look at Fathis Ules, I think it fits best as an "exception" to the written schedule. We should do our best to avoid too many notes anyway. ;) --Krusty 20:41, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

I was referring to this part of the note: "if Bogrum gro-Galash is alive, at midday he will head etc..."

It just seems confusing grammatically speaking, since technically it sounds like it could be talking about either of the characters All I was saying was that as the note stands now, the sentence structure sounds like it says that Bogrum will travel to the Black Horse Courier, not Pennus, which is why I thought the word "he" should simply be changed to "Pennus". The weird format makes it sound like a misplaced bit of information. Plus there's no note about it on Bogrum's page, and I don't think there was any schedule there, so it got even more confusing. I just posted the question to make sure I wasn't botching anything up or messing up the note because I was misunderstanding it. That's all. But I understand what you're saying.

And Krusty, I've only been on this wiki for a few days, so I'm not really sure about the note placement. But I would say that similar exceptions and oddities are usually placed in notes, so unless this unfinished quest has an enormous scale, it might not be a bad idea just to leave them as notes. Then again, I don't know squat about schedules or their formatting, so I really can't speak with much certainty on that topic. Facebag 04:53, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

I saw your change to the page and it makes better sense now. While I'm still a bit doubtful about the whole "Notes"section-thing (and that is clearly a discussion for the ONPCRP members) let's just leave it like this for now. --Krusty 11:06, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
