Pelagius, a battlemage, was once Emperor Pelagius, who ruled Cyrodiil; after he went insane and drew Mephala's wrath, he was hunted down and supposedly killed, but was actually sealed away in the Order's Crypt. He was freed during the siege on the castle and, discovering that Uriel Septim's death had left a power vacuum, immediately set in motion a plot to regain his seat on the throne. He appears to side with you for a time, until you regain Tyrfing, then he turns on you in a bid to get the sword and use it to kill Mephala (at which point you're forced to kill him).

Pelagius wears a Black Hand Robe, Pelagius' Hood, and doeskin shoes, and is armed with Pelagius' Sword.
