Walkthrough

This quest starts when you hear a rumor of spirits in the Ferroul family crypt. The crypt is located outside the city, near the main gates. Go inside, and you'll find the ghost of Mauren Ferroul, who was executed for allegedly killing his wife Sahaula; he's now confined to the tomb for eternity and he wants you to gain revenge on her. To that end, he wants you to catch her spirit in a bottle and bring it to him, so she can share his fate.

The process is easy - take the bottle and scroll he gives you, go to their old house, and cast the spell on the scroll. Once you have the spirit, return to the crypt. He'll happily let you dig through his treasure chest, but Sahaula will take her revenge on you.

5		In Kathar, I heard the rumor that something haunts the Ferroul ancestral crypt, outside on the eastern slope of the volcano, at night.
10		In the Ferroul ancestral crypt I met Mauren, who must eke out a restless existence as a spirit and asks for forgiveness before the altar of his ancestors. He allegedly killed his wife and was hanged for it. But Mauren claims his wife Sahaula took her own and their two children's lives. The Ferroul family honor was besmirched, and the ancestors punished him for it.
11		Mauren is out for revenge and wants me to capture Sahaula's spirit in a bottle, which he handed to me, and bring it to him. I should place the bottle in her home on the table and speak the spell that is written on a scroll. I should then return to him and hand him the bottle containing Sahaula's spirit.
20		I've caught Sahaula's spirit in the vial. Mauren will be waiting for it eagerly. I should go into the Ferroul crypt tonight.
30	Finishes quest	I gave Mauren the filled bottle, and he seemed satisfied. Although he is still obliged to spend all eternity as a restless spirit in this tomb, he got his revenge. In return for my services, I can take whatever I consider useful from his chest.
100	Finishes quest	I asked the ancestors for mercy and saved Mauren for eternity. Unfortunately, I now have his curse on my neck - that is, when I die, I must roam as a restless soul in this tomb, not able to ever leave again. Let's see if I can get rid of this curse again. At least I can now loot Mauren's chest.

Notes

• Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
• Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in random order.
• If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
• It is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering setstage ODDKatharFluch1Quest stage, where stage is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages. See SetStage for more information.
