Sir Thedret is a Redguard crusader added by the Knights of the Nine official download. He is located at first at Fort Bulwark, where he is involved in the quest Wisdom of the Ages.
While imprisoned he will only have sack cloth pants and up to 4 restore health potions (75% chance for each individual potion). After he joins the Knights of the Nine his armor is replaced by the standard Knights of the Nine outfit: a Knights of the Nine cuirass and shield, chainmail greaves, gauntlets, helmet, and boots. He is then armed with a leveled longsword and bow with silver arrows. He will also carry a russet felt outfit, rugged pants, and a pair of russet felt shoes. Sir Thedret has the ability to use a leveled set of random crusader spells as well as one minor Restore Health spell.

Quest-Related Events[edit]
Wisdom of the Ages[edit]
The first possibility you will have to encounter Sir Thedret will be at Fort Bulwark while questing for the Shield of the Crusader. You will discover that he has been imprisoned by the Conjurers that control the fort and according to one of their notes, he was proving a tough nut to crack and was going to be executed shortly thereafter.
- "The prisoner remains uncooperative.
There is little doubt that he was on his own, and none will come to his aid. It has been made clear to him that unless he reveals what he knows, he shall pay most dearly. And yet still he holds out.
We give it one more week. If he does not help us reach the Shield, he is to be disposed of, preferrably [sic] in a manner most painful."
As you approach his cell he will call out to you for help:
- "Please! Set me free!"
- "Open the gate, please. I must get out of here."
- "Help me!"
Freeing him from his cell will have him thank you by saying:
- "Thank you for freeing me."
Speaking to him will have him greet you by saying:
- "Thank you for rescuing me. I've lost track of how long they've held me here."
- Who are you?
- "I am Sir Thedret. I came here seeking the Shield of the Crusader, and was ambushed by these... these cowards. They've held me here since."
- What are you doing here?
- "I've been held prisoner by these scoundrels for the longest time. They want to know how to reach the Shield, and believed I would help them. When I refused, they locked me here, and only let me out to torture me. They got nothing from me."
- Can you help me?
- "I can't go with you, if that's what you mean. I'm too weak... I need to rest. Once I have my strength, I will certainly join your cause. You'll have to go on alone. But the knowledge I've gained may be of use to you."
- What do you know?
- "Before finding this place, I learned a bit about those who created it. It's designed to keep the Shield hidden and safe. A phrase kept coming up in the writings I found: 'When the eyes of the Guardians are upon you, Julianos will show you favor.' I'm not sure how, but I just know it's a clue for making it safely through these ruins. You're the only one I have told. I hope it helps you."
After this he will end the conversation and begin sneaking out of the fort. Speaking to him again will have him say:
- "I must get out of this pit, and get myself some rest. We'll meet again, don't worry."
As you part ways he may offer you one final wish of luck:
- "Good luck on your quest. I'm sure we'll meet again."
After recovering the Shield you will encounter Sir Thedret once more at the Priory of the Nine, eager to serve the order. If you were the one to free him he will happily greet you by saying:
- "Did I not say we would meet again? I am here, and ready to serve. I will join your order, and together we will fight this new threat against the Nine. Glory to the Nine!"
If you didn't free him from captivity in Fort Bulwark he will instead introduce himself by saying:
- "Hail, brave Knight. You do not know me, but you have saved me. I was imprisoned within Fort Bulwark. When you cleansed the fort of those who sought to steal the Shield, I was able to escape. And so I traveled here, and I am joining your Order. I wish to serve the Nine, and repay the debt I owe you."
Regardless of whether you freed him or not, he joins the order without giving you a chance to protest. He will now settle into a busy routine. After waking up at 6am, he immediately heads to the Chapel for three hours of prayers. From 9am to midday he can be found practicing his melee skills in the Priory basement, after which he spends the next three hours reading in the library. At 3pm he eats and early dinner, before spending the rest of day until midnight bedtime conversing with his fellow knights, who will greet him with: "Hail, Sir Thedret."
After his arrival, he will also recruit a smith for the Priory: Sergius Turrianus will show up in the basement and explain:
- "Sergius Terrianus [sic], at your service. Thedret and I go way back, and he said there was need of a Blacksmith here."
The Blessing of Talos[edit]
Once you have recovered all of the artifacts you will be confronted by Sir Thedret at the Priory of the Nine. He will inform you that the Prophet has arrived at the Priory:
- "Lord Crusader! The Prophet is here -- he's just arrived! He seemed to know you were coming... told me to wait for you. And here you are! Come. He is preaching to the assembled Knights in the Chapel. You should speak to him at once."
Speaking to Sir Thedret again will have him remind you that you should speak to the Prophet:
- "The Prophet has arrived. He is preaching to the assembled Knights in the Chapel. You should speak to him at once."
Umaril the Unfeathered[edit]
After using The Blessing of Talos to completely destroy Umaril the Unfeathered your fellow knights will assume that you were struck down and will place your body in the undercroft. After rising, victorious over your Umaril, Sir Thedret will be the one to discover that you are still alive:
- "Lord Crusader! How can this be? You... you're alive! It's a miracle! I heard voices in the undercroft and I came to investigate... You vanished in Garlas Malatar. After the battle, we searched further into the ruin and found you next to Umaril's corpse. You had no wounds on your body, but you were dead. I saw it with my own eyes -- you did not draw breath! We laid you to rest in the undercroft... we kept your death a secret. We feared what would happen if our enemies thought you were dead."

- The wonders of the Nine are many.
- "Indeed they are... We knew you had succeeded in destroying Umaril's physical form, but it seemed that you had met the same fate as Pelinal Whitestrake. Tell me... was Umaril destroyed?"

- Even death cannot stop the Crusader.
- "I can see that! I... you'll have to excuse me... I need a moment to collect my thoughts... We found Umaril's body next to yours, but it seemed that you had met the same fate as Pelinal Whitestrake. We didn't know... Tell me... Umaril... what happened? Did you succeed in pursuing him into the spirit realm, as the Prophet said?"
You will once again be given two options to reply to his question, your previous choice being irrelevant to your potential responses as the options are the same for either path:
- I have severed his very soul.
- "Then he is destroyed! We've won -- and you're alive! I have to tell the others!"
- Of course. I destroyed him utterly.
- "I never doubted you, Crusader. But I must tell the others that you're alive!"
At this point he will run off to inform the other Knights. If you speak to him again at this point he will tell you to follow him:
- "Come with me! We have to tell everyone that you're alive!"
Once you are both outside he will give a speech to summarize what has happened:
- "Knights of the Nine, hear me! Today we have witnessed undeniable proof of the strength and the might of the gods we serve! Slain in battle with the dread Umaril, by the grace and mercy of the Nine, the Crusader lives again! How can this be, you ask? What of our foe? What has become of Umaril The Unfeathered? Umaril has been slain by the Crusader! His very spirit cast into the void and destroyed for all eternity -- he will never rise again. Let us give thanks to the Nine! By their power, the Crusader has rid the world of Umaril forever! Hail the Lord Crusader!"
Aftermath[edit]
With the Order restored, Thedret's routine will change slightly: he will now practice archery behind the Priory House from 6pm to 9pm. You will also be able to ask him to follow you:
- Come with me
- "Lead the way, Sir Knight."
- Follow me.
- "Lead the way, Sir Knight."
- Wait here.
- "As you command."
- Return to your duties.
- "I was honored to be of assistance."
Notes[edit]
- Unlike the rest of the Knights of the Nine, Sir Thedret is essential and cannot die (except after the questline is complete). This may be because he must greet you when you return to the priory.
- Apparently, when you freed Thedret from the cell at the fort, you arrived just in the nick of time; on a table in the next room is a note by a conjurer to give him one more week to talk, and if he doesn't, he is to be executed in a "preferably painful" way.
- Sir Thedret joins the Knights of the Nine faction after completing the quest Wisdom of the Ages.
