—Vinsha[1]

Serpent Caller Vinsha was a Maormer priestess of the Serpent God of Satakal. She was a devoted follower, motivated by visions of her deity, and a powerful practitioner of Snake Magic known for her ability to magically alter snake populations on the High Isle.[1][2] Some thought she was looking for new weapons to unleash against the inhabitants of the Systres.[3]

History[edit]

Vinsha performing a ritual in the Serpent Bog

Little is known about Vinsha's past. At some point, circa 2E 582 she arrived to High Isle of the Systres archipelago. Driven by the visions of the Serpent God of Satakal,[2] she started magically modifying local snakes and their eggs in the Serpent Bog region, in the hills east of All Flags Islet, with the help of Maormer magic, making them very aggressive.[3][4] Local Druids from the Stonelore Circle took notice of her actions and considered them a form of corruption. The serpents influenced by Vinsha were uncommon, and every one of their eggs was deemed valuable. When the Circle learned about her actions toward the serpents she controlled, they confronted her. She, however, incited the snakes against the druids and forced them to flee. Druids sought to recover and purify the snake eggs from her unnatural influence, and engaged the broker from Gonfalon Bay to defeat Vinsha. Druid Farel traveled to the city to meet with the broker.[2] The broker ensured that adventurers were recruited to defeat Vinsha and collect the eggs. Although she wasn't certain of Vinsha's intentions, she believed that Vinsha was raising them for battle. Ultimately, adventurers ready to battle the Maormeri priestess were found.[3][5]

In combat, she commanded her serpents such as Reef Vipers, Chillfang Vipers, Corrupted Vipers, and Seeking Vipers,[1][6] while also utilizing archery, traps, poisons, and elemental spells. She also called upon Satakal's name to conjure magical mirages of herself.[1][7] She was ultimately defeated and met her demise there. The eggs were retrieved and the explorers were compensated for their efforts.[3][5]
