Kestic was a Nedic king during the early-mid First Era. In his time, he was the Forest King, leading the northern clans of the forest region. He was the last of his title, as the Nedic civilization of the Deathlands fell with the arrival of the Ra Gada in 1E 808.[1][2]

History[edit]

The Forest Banner

Kestic hails from the northern forest region of the Nedic kingdoms, where he eventually became their leader and represented them in various matters between the other nations. In 1E 808, the High King of Skyreach, Durac arranged a marriage between King Kestic and his daughter, Saradin, to cement relations between both factions,[3] much to the dismay of his court wizard and close friend, Virmaril. However, this never came to be as the Ra Gada had landed on the shores of the Deathlands and spread across the region's outermost corners. The Anka-Ra moved to the far northeast, into the region of Craglorn, and storming the Kingdom of Skyreach.[4]

Virmaril proposed a plan to High King Durac to fight against the Anka-Ra. The High King arranged the council of kings, bringing the various Nedic kings into the Skyreach Catacombs, including Kestic. However, Virmaril murdered the council, taking control of the deceased kings and the interred dead in the catacombs with necromancy. It was in vain however as he was sealed deep in the inner sanctum.[4][5] Skyreach was subsequently besieged by the Anka-Ra and the kingdoms such as the forest region were dissolved. Many years later in 2E 582, a band of adventurers delved into the Skyreach Catacombs when dark magic came from the ruins. The group faced the dead Nedic-kings in waves until they managed to destroy them all at once.[2]

Notes[edit]

  • It is possible that Kestic was the leader of the Men-of-kreath, who were the Nedic people who inhabited northern region of the Nedic kingdoms.[6][7]
