Jaqspurs are renowned Bosmeri archers, who have achieved legendary status for their remarkable skills,[1] demonstrating extraordinary skills such as the ability to split arrows in mid-flight.[2] Hailing from Valenwood, these archers are known for their exceptional long-distance shooting abilities.[2][3] They don attire crafted entirely from leather, accentuated with bone.[1] In addition to their service in wars as part of the Bosmeri army,[4] Jaqspurs fulfill various roles such as scouts,[5][6] trackers,[7] hunters,[2] and hired guards, utilizing their archery skills to contribute to the defense and security of their people.[8]

Jaqspurs were dedicated servants to both the Green Lady and the Silvenar.[9][10][11] Silvenar's Own Jaqspurs, an esteemed personal guard comprised of Valenwood's finest long-range archers. Although disbanded prior to the mid-Second Era, this renowned group was reestablished during the reign of the first Aldmeri Dominion.[9][12] When the Dominion was formed, several Jaqspurs joined as a symbolic gesture of goodwill. The passing of the Green Lady had a profound impact on all Jaqspurs, as they felt a deep connection to her.[10] They also answered to Treethanes.[5][13]

Organization[edit]

The primary focus of Bosmer warfare lies in archery. From as early as the age of fourteen, young Wood Elves display sufficient skill with the bow to join hunting parties. Those who excel as long-distance archers are recognized as Jaqspurs. Their distinctive shooting technique, described as "snatching and releasing in one continuous motion," allows them to sustain a rapid rate of fire, although mastering accuracy at such speed demands extensive training over the years.[14][3]

Jaqspurs possess exceptional navigational skills within the dense forests of Valenwood, and some have been hired as guides by the Fists of Thalmor. These skilled archers employ rare arrows for concealing bodies when necessary. The tips of these arrows are coated with a special oil, which, while non-magical, accelerates the decomposition process to some extent.[10][15]

Jaqspur Captains occasionally employ the use of arboreal spotting scopes, brass folding telescopes equipped with a wristband. This tool is commonly utilized by arboreal archers to spot their targets. During the Three Banners War, these scopes were crafted at the Green Warden Forge in Elden Root.[16]
