Hindaril was a notoriously powerful Altmer vampire of the Third Era. He was so powerful that those who sought to destroy him were unsuccessful, no matter what they tried. Instead, all they could do was imprison him underground, within a cave system known as Redwater Slough on the banks of the North Panther River, in the Blackwood region of Cyrodiil.[1]
Hindaril continued to survive below ground for an unknown period of time. The partially-flooded passages of Redwater Slough became home to vampires and other forms of undead.[2]
Circa 3E 433, a former Glenmoril witch named Melisande sent the Hero of Kvatch in search of Hinadril's location in order to defeat him and claim his ashes. Melisande required the dust of a powerful vampire to create a cure for vampirism, and the Hero duly located and killed Hindaril within Redwater Slough, much to Melisande's surprise. His ashes were subsequently used to create a cure for Countess Rona Hassildor of Skingrad, thus allowing her to die.[3]
