Black Harbor is the main port on the island of Esroniet, a spice island located in the Padomaic Ocean.[1]

History[edit]

Esroniet had a trading relationship with the Imperials of Cyrodiil as early as 2E 53.[2] In the mid-Third Era, the Third Empire embarked on a series of expansionist invasions under the leadership of Emperor Uriel Septim V.[3] Esroniet was one such target, and Black Harbor fell to Uriel V's forces in 3E 282. In 3E 284 the island's ruler, Prince Bashomon, surrendered the whole kingdom to him. Uriel V transformed the port into a major base for the Imperial Navy and used it as a launching point for the invasion of Akavir in 3E 288.[1]

The Expeditionary Force left Black Harbor for Akavir on 23rd Rain's Hand, 3E 288. After conquering a Tsaesci port and re-founding it as the colony of Septimia, the Expeditionary Force set up supply lines between Black Harbor and the Imperial Province of Akavir. However, prolonged bad weather at sea delayed the first supply fleet; having set out from Black Harbor in early Second Seed, the fleet arrived at Septimia eight weeks later, having been much reduced. Rather than sending the Legions back to Black Harbor, Uriel V continued his ill-fated Akaviri campaign, and sent the fleet back to Black Harbor to bring more supplies and reinforcements. Thanks to the onboard Battlemage Corps, the fleet safely made it back to Black Harbor, but all attempts to return to Akavir were frustrated by a series of ever more savage storms that battered Esroniet throughout the rest of 3E 289. Uriel V later perished with the majority of his forces at Ionith, putting an end to the Empire's Akaviri invasion.[1]
