Books talk:Arena Player's Guide/Introduction
Creation of Page[edit]
This is original work and not copied from other sources except the manuals. I mention this for two reasons. 1. This was much more difficult than I expected. 2. UESP now has the most accurate representation of this information. That's not trying to toot a horn; if it wasn't for this info already being on TIL, I wouldn't have known it existed. But the benefit of producing it second is that I could use their version as a second proofread for this one. Having the opportunity to contrast and compare was invaluable. Both our copies were full of errors. But what I discovered was that the Original French has also been heavily edited. While it is essentially the same, it is not a copy of the original which we now have. DeepL was used for the primary translation from French. Google Translate was also consulted, but minimally used. The translations felt very modern and informal which didn't flow well with the introduction to a medieval setting for a role playing game. Where the translations felt too mechanical or out of character, sentence fragments and individual words were examined separately for alternative and colloquial usage. Proper nouns were not translated as literal, but as they are used in the English version and two sentences were restructured because a direct translation led to unintended implications. All of which are included in the Notes section for the translation. --Satribe (talk) 08:30, 21 November 2020 (UTC)
